A legend is something that lasts, something that makes an impact long after it is gone. Student Activities successfully chose the most legendary artists and actors to honor. Coffeehouse: The Legends was a success and here are just a few of the acts that made it great:
5. LU2
This U2 tribute brought energy and personality to the stage with their "With or Without You" performance. You could just tell that the group was having a great time up there. The audience was having just as great of a time as they swayed to the music with flashlights up. I would like to personally thank the lead singer for all the hair flips. I appreciated that. LU2 owned the stage.
4. Harry and The Champions for Christ
This is the one group that brought Queen to the stage with their rendition of "We Will Rock You". The song was great for getting the audience involved. The rap in the middle caught me off guard. I think it was a risky move for such a classic number, even though the performance itself was solid. As I have previously stated, Queen is one of the greatest bands of all time so it was so fun to hear one of their classics.
3. Stained Glass Window
This duet blew me away as subtly as they possibly could. Their acoustic cover of "Billie Jean" was hauntingly beautiful and their harmonies were so tight. I wasn't expecting the smooth spin they put on this Michael Jackson number, but I absolutely loved it! I low-key want a Stained Glass Window covers album.
2. The Vegan Llamas
I was a little worried when the clock struck 1 AM and I still hadn't seen The Vegan Llamas. Coffeehouse just wouldn't be the same without them. But Student Activities saved them for last and they killed it with their Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute. At first, it just sounded like a cover and I wasn't all that impressed. But then the band made it their own and then a fantastic human (I don't know his name) played his guitar behind his head and they rocked so hard, which earned them the standing ovation they deserved.
1. Treble in Paradise
I was astounded by this group's talent! Their a cappella cover of "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel was absolutely amazing! I am an avid fan of Glee so I loved everything about this performance. "The Longest Time" was the perfect song choice. The harmonies were so tight and the percussion at the end tied it all together perfectly. Treble in Paradise, you were my favorite act of the night. I hope to see more of you in the future.
Overall, Coffeehouse: The Legends was a giant success. The entire night was a throwback to the best music of all time. Thank you once again Student Activities for a great Coffeehouse experience.
