Top 7 Songs For Perusing The Dairy Aisle In Your Local Supermarket

Sometimes you just need to have to right music for the right dairy products. Those lighted cases are calling to you. Your mom is calling too; she wants to make sure you’ll remember to buy those gummy vitamins.

Vacation by Florist

This song, off of Florist’s newest EP Holdly, is honest and calming. Plus, the line “maybe I just wanna get married, maybe I just wanna fall asleep” is p great.

Perfect for: when you’re looking at the gogurts longingly but know you have to buy greek yogurt because you want your housemates to think you’re ~sophisticated~

Sprained Ankle by Julien Baker

Super simple, and just quiet in a way that makes you want to reflect on your big decisions but also the tiny ones. Pretty sure Julien Baker has more talent than I will ever have at anything ever. She’s 19. She’s v chill. She’s from Memphis. (You should also check out Go Home from Baker because it's incredible.)

Perfect for: when you’re feeling small among the cream cheese choices; chive or mixed vegetable, u kno?

Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell by Das Racist

This isn’t news, but sometimes you gotta honor the classics. Also, the members met at Wesleyan so woooo CT pride (jk CT pride isn’t a thing; it’s a shitty state--trust me I spent 18 years there but don’t you dare make fun of it, only we can do that)

Perfect for: deciding that using the same pre-shredded cheese for pizza and tacos will probably work. Maybe they’ll taste a little weird, but that’s what pepperoni and hot sauce are for...right? Pepper jack is probably the wrong choice, but would havarti work? Does Chuck E. Cheese use the same cheese on everything they make? 3-cheese blend? 5-cheese blend? What is overboard cheese-wise? How many cheeses is too many? At what point is the blend no longer benefitting from additional flavors? How do we decide when we are finished? Is anything ever finished? Aren’t we all just works in progress, working on works in progress? How much do you even really care? It’s all melty.

Come On, Let’s Love by Zanders

Lil band from CT, just doing what they do. The beginning of this song is dripping in clichés and gets totally brutal at the end. 100% it will get stuck in your head. (Also, I hear they have some new tunes out soon.)

Perfect for: when you want to politely smash a gallon of milk on the floor, curtsey, and walk away.

I Didn’t by Tica Douglas

Tica Douglas has been doing some great stuff, plus I hear part of this album was recorded in a barn so its got that rustic feel.

Perfect for: when you decide not to buy butter when you probably need it because $$$

Kicker by Alex G

Honestly, friend, this song somehow just gets it in a way that I can’t really explain, except for saying it has this really nice momentum to it that keeps things going but isn’t abrasive.

Perfect for: when you’re picking out the milk for the tea you drink as a coping mechanism for anxiety attacks.

Guide by Emily Yacina

Philly and NYC based, Yacina’s music is v beautiful and calming and interesting. She’s actually on a couple tracks from Alex G’s new album. Everything’s connected.

Perfect for: the moment you realized you’ve been standing in the dairy section for too long and the fluorescent lights from inside the cases just makes you feel really weird.

Honestly, I’m lactose intolerant so just ignore me. What do I know about milk?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
