When you think of college the last thing you may think of is being a commuter student. You may think it’s just like high school, and it isn’t truly giving you the college experience. Commuting does suck at times. It is extremely annoying, and definitely different from being on campus 24/7. If you live the commuter life, you will definitely understand these problems.
- Parking
- Show up to campus after 10 oclock? I can guarantee you won't find parking unless you decide to risk your life and park in Copernicus. No one is EVER driving the right way and most of the vehicles become race cars in there.

- Curfew
- If you are a commuter who lives at home, then you don’t have the luxury of rolling in to your room whenever you please. You have to let your parents know when you think you’re going to be home, and if your parents are at all like mine it better not be past a certain time.

- Work
- Working on the weekends is something you should definitely take advantage of. Gives you time to get school work done during the week, and get money during the weekend. Got to get that gas money.

- DD
- It sucks. It is not fun being a babysitter. But at least you will know everyone is going to be safe in your hands and you get to remind your friends of all the dumb things they did the next day.
- Gaps in Schedule
- 3 hour break seems like a long enough break to go home and chill out for a bit, right? No, you thought wrong. By the time you settle in you’re going to have to leave again. And if you got that prime parking spot, you won’t want to lose it either.

- Meal Planning
- It’s better to bring too much than not enough. Especially if you’re broke and can’t afford the roughly 8 dollar chicken tender combo every day. Always spot your friends for snacks too, you never know when you might need one from them!Although being a commuter isn’t always the ideal situation to be in as a college student, you work with what you have. I will say, nothing beats coming home to my own bed with no crazy roommate, my mom’s amazing food, and snuggling with my dogs whenever I want to. After a long day of classes and work among other things that have been stressing you out through the day, nothing is more comforting than coming home.
