While there's always an excuse to go to Sephora and Ulta Beauty, these upcoming makeup arrivals will make you plan a spring and summer makeup haul immediately. Here are some of the most exciting makeup products that I want to try.
1. Too Faced Eyeshadow Palettes
I’ve been a huge fan of Too Faced makeup products for a while, especially their chocolate makeup collection (yes, it’s a thing). When I heard that Too Faced was coming out with two new eyeshadow additions for summer 2016, possibly including a collaboration with Kat Von D, I knew that I would be obsessed.
The first palette that is being released is the Peanut Butter and Jelly Eye Shadow Palette:
Solely its packaging will bring back all your childhood memories of eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in elementary school. This palette includes nine beautiful matte and glittery coppery, gold, brown, and purple shades that are perfect for a night out and experimenting with colorful eyeshadows this spring and summer. The best part of this palette is that it is infused with the smell of peanut butter, and who doesn’t want to be smelling like one of their favorite foods? In addition, with its compact size, it is perfect for traveling or storing in your purse for those who are always on the go. If you don’t love peanut butter, this might not be the next palette for you, but peanut butter and makeup addicts will rejoice over this amazing combination.
The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette will also be available summer 2016.
If you hate peanut butter but love summer and peaches, the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette that will be released as part of Too Face’s summer collection will be your new go-to eyeshadow palette.
Although there has been no release date or cost released besides this teaser picture, the eyeshadow palette screams summer. With these 18 shades ranging from metallic browns to pinks and purples, there are so many options for makeup looks. The eyeshadows are infused with the smell of peach, which can be either amazing or too sweet. Either way, it’s worth a try and based on past prices for Too Faced palettes, it will be a bargain for the amount of colors and variety you are getting
2. MAC Zac Posen Lipsticks – in stores February 25, 2016
Zac Posen is known as a celebrity fashion designer as well as a judge on "Project Runway." What he’s not known for is makeup, as this is his first collaboration with a makeup brand. While there is a whole range of makeup products that will be released with the collaboration, the products that I most want to try are the MAC Zac Posen lipsticks. These colors look so bright and pigmented, which is perfect for warm weather days and summer. I also love the fact that the lipsticks are matte because there are way too many lipsticks that are glossy. The bright orange color pictured above is called Darling Clementine and the red color is called Dangerously Red. I’m sure that the other lipsticks shades are also great, but there have been only a few promotional pictures of the line so far; therefore, I guess we’ll have to wait a few days to see this amazing collaboration in its entirety.
3) Sephora Minnie Mouse Collection – launching in April 2016
Once again, another great collaboration: Sephora and Disney’s iconic character, Minnie Mouse. In addition to Minnie Mouse being one of my favorite Disney characters, I love polka dots, so I’m thoroughly excited about this collection.
According to Buzzfeed, the collection will include red lipstick ($15), a set of two liquid eyeliners ($20), a luminizer blush ($22), a set of six brushes ($58), a lip stain set ($26), a compact mirror ($26) and an eye shadow palette with 20 colors ($45).
While the prices are not the cheapest, getting one or two things from the collection may be worth it if you are a big Disney or Minnie Mouse fan. I love the black and gold design, as it is so sleek and adorable. I’m most keen on getting the brush set, as you can never have too many brushes and I can’t resist the polka dot design.
4) Benefit Dew the Hoola Soft Matte Liquid Bronzer ($28) – Coming soon
This is definitely a unique product. I’ve never come across a liquid bronzer in my life, so once I saw this, I knew I had to try it. Unfortunately, it has not been released yet. With the reputation of Benefit’s popular Hoola powder bronzer, this liquid bronzer has high expectations to live up to. There are so many questions about the product: How orange is the product? What is the consistency like? A foundation? While there’s concern over the bronzer, since paleness is the norm in the winter, I think the release will come at a perfect time. I’m very excited to try this product and try to figure out how to put a liquid bronzer effectively on my face.
5) Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid ($28) – Only available to VIB Rouge and VIB members at Sephora.com, Widespread release soon
Is it just me, or did the whole color corrective concealer-like products just pop up out of nowhere in the makeup world? I’m interested to see how effective these work or if it’s a waste of money and I should just stick with ordinary concealer. Urban Decay has comeout with many great products in the past, so I trust Urban Decay to make greatcolor corrective products. Each color fixes a specific problem: for instance, the green formula reduces redness while the yellow formula prevents dullness (whatever that means). I enjoy liquid concealer-type products more than stick concealers so I figured I would give one of these products a shot. With the small brush, I feel that it would allow for a more targeted application and be less crease-prone than other products.
6) Smashbox Color Correcting Stick ($23) – Currently only available to VIB Rouge and VIB members, widespread release soon
If you prefer pencil products and like saving a bit of money on a product you want to try, then the Smashbox Color Correcting Sticks look promising. Once again, each color coordinates to the problem you would like to solve or prevent, and the color equivalencies are the same for both products. I really want to know if these color correcting sticks work and change the makeup industry or will they solely be a trend based on getting the perfect selfie face? Perhaps a combination of the liquid and stick form of color corrective products will work great together.
So there are the top products that I want to try as a part of the upcoming spring and summer makeup collections. Leave a comment below if you tried any of the products above and let me know how you liked them.
