1. Peel Wood Fire Pizza

If you want pizza but you don’t want the usual greasy overpriced pizzas from the chain pizza places. Then you should try out Peel, especially if you’ve never had it. If you are new to Edwardsville it’s a must try place. You can pick your own toppings or you can order one of theirs. You can also pick what goes in a calzone and if you are still hungry afterward they’ve got an AMAZING s’mores Nutella pizza. Its freaking delicious.

2. Annie's Frozen Custard

When you get done at peel if you didn’t get the s’mores pizza or even if you did. (I won’t tell if you decide to get both; no judgment here) then you should go to Annie’s. Their frozen custard is to die for. I used to crave the Raspberry Truffles when I was living out of state. I’d go home and that’s the first place we would go. I personally recommend going to their old location down by the Edwardsville Public Library off of Buchanan if you want the full experience. However, the location by the Movie Theater is just as good.

3. Bigelo's Bistro

If you are looking for an American and Italian type food then try this place out. There’s a bar there (for those of you 21 and older) and they have some delicious waffle fries as well as sandwiches.

4. Wang Gang

Listen, I’ve yet to find a Chinese restaurant that I like in Edwardsville. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a good one it just means I haven’t found it yet. Wang Gang is as close as I can get to it. They have some amazing potstickers as well as some really awesome dishes on their menu.

5. The Cup

HOLY FREAKIN CUPCAKE! Personally, my family gets them for everyone’s birthday. They are amazing and decently priced. They are so good you most likely will never buy another birthday cake again. (my family doesn’t haha)

6. La Fonda

Ahhhh, tacos….am I right? La Fonda is in the shopping center by Target. I have tried all of the Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. I love tacos judge me I don’t even care. I promise you. This place will never disappoint you. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant hands down no completion. I have never had to wait there. The chips and salsa are always dished out in the plenty. Margaritas are on point and the tacos are to die for.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
