1. Christina Yang, 'Grey’s Anatomy'
Christina taught us to fight for whatever we want. If you are in a relationship that means something to you it won’t always be easy, and you will have to work for it. If anyone was willing to put in some elbow grease, it was Yang.
2. Rachel Greene, 'Friends'
Even though Ross and Rachel spent some time apart, it was an important lesson for us all. Sometimes you have to work on yourself before you can work on a relationship. Rachel understood that she was not ready to put her relationship first, so she decided to take a step back and do what she needed to do.
3. Emily Fields, 'Pretty Little Liars'
Emily taught us to be honest not just in our relationships, but also about our relationships. Emily was so confident with her S.O. that she was willing to fight for her, even when other people did not approve.
Emily, similarly, taught us unconditional love. Her feelings were not dependent on how someone else felt about her. Proof: Alison did not have to love Emily back to earn Emily’s love.
4. Leslie Knope, 'Parks and Recreation'
Leslie and Ben are equals, and there may not be a lesson anymore important than this. Relationships flourish when two parts of a whole work equally. Proof: when Leslie is put in the role of wife-of-the-candidate, she proves that in a partnership, one member never has to take the back burner.
5. Pam Beasley, 'The Office'
Pam was the ultimate girlfriend. Having a friendship with your S.O. brings a closeness and trust that is unique to BFFs. Pam mastered this with Jim because their friendship came first and they took it slow. Endless pranks on Dwight were not just for kicks and giggles, they made a stronger Pam and Jim.
