Can I get an AMEN?! "Made In The A.M." has been a long awaited album for the fandom. Zayn Malik left, Louis Tomlinson is going to be a dad (still shocked), and the guys announced a break from touring for the last five years.
Without further adieu- the unofficial official review of my 5 favorite, "Made In The A.M." tracks.
To preface: Harry FREAKING Styles.
Disclaimer: There will be many Harry Styles gifs.
I could end there, but I won't.
1) "Hey Angel"
The first track on this amazing fifth album, is just that, amazing. Wow, ok. From Harry's first "Hey angeelllllllllllllll...." I cried. Just thinking about little Harry doing his screamy, singy face. UGH.
Louis, I hear ya bringin' in the chorus. I'm not 100% sure what this song is referencing, but I love it nonetheless. It's been stuck in my head since Friday.
2) "Perfect"
Ok, this was released weeks before the album, but it's definitely still a favorite. Can I just say, Louis, when you say "Maather", I melt a little. Also, I totally knew this was about Taylor Swift. I picture it being Harry's little wink to Taylor, 'I don't regret us being together.'
A gif from Taylor Swift's video for "Style", written about Harry.
Similarities? It's definitely about T. Swift and Harry is telling her that he was perfect "if you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about..." Nevertheless, this song is perfect for embracing that love that will never last, or the love that didn't last. Maybe you're not mean to be, but maybe you're perfect for now. It reminds us that sometimes love should be crazy and reckless, not endless.
3) "If I Could Fly"
Two words: HARRY STYLES. That deep, sultry, raspy voice, what the actual heck. This is my favorite love ballad on the album. It's a beautiful song about being completely vulnerable to one person and only that person. "And now you know me/ for your eyes only." It's hard to open yourself up to people, especially when we've been through heartbreak, but with the right person, opening yourself up is necessary. Such a sweet, sweet, simple song with AMAZING harmonies, especially toward the end with Harry's contrary and parallel motion. I give it a 10/10.
4) "Temporary Fix"
NIALL!! We've missed ya and you sound AMAZE. Temporary Fix is obviously a song about "booty call." A very classy, One Direction "booty call" though. It's just a really fun song and it sounds a lot like the 1D from Midnight Memories as well as "No Control" from Four, to me. "You can call me when you're lonely/ when you can't sleep/ I'll be your temporary fix..." Naughty boys.
5) "History"
History was released a few days before the album for pre-ordering fans. 1D shared that it is a nod to the fandom, thanking and acknowledging that One Direction has made it to ultimate heights because of the fans. History also encourages them that "this is not the end." With the hiatus the boys are taking, there has been talk of this being their last album, but I don't buy that one bit, especially not after this song. "Don't let it go/ we can make some more/ we can live forever."
So from the fandom to the guys, THANK YOU TIMES A BILLION! Thank you for working tirelessly recording and performing and touring for over 5 years straight. Thank you for Made In The A.M., as you again change my life with your beautiful voices and flawless harmonies. See you again soon, baes.
