Going back to school is always tough. Getting used to early wake ups, weird lunchtimes, and being stuck in school for 7-8 hours a day is a lot different than having a free summer routine. In order to make the transition back to school less of a struggle here are five life hacks that will get you back in the swing of things

1. Pick out your outfits the night before!!

This is the best life-hack and saves so much time in the mornings! I did this everyday in high school and it made my mornings so much quicker and stress free. Knowing that my outfit was already picked out when I woke up allowed me to use the extra time on other things like eating breakfast or scrolling through my phone.

2. Pack your lunch the night before

If you don't buy your lunch at school make sure you pack your lunch the night before. This saves so much time in the morning and it's great when you're in a rush or running late. It's so much easier just grabbing your lunch bag out of the fridge and running out the door than it is to grab all of the things you need to make you lunch and make it in the mornings!

3. Have separate folders for papers that are completed and need to be completed

Having two folders is a great organizational back to school life hack. Try to keep one folder for papers that need to be completed like papers that need to be signed, study guides, and homework sheets that need to be filled out. After you're done filling out your papers put them in a separate folder to be handed in back at school.

4. Clean your locker out once a week

This will make it so much easier to find your books you need for class. Even though it may be annoying to have to spend time cleaning out old papers and water bottles it will make you feel so much better when your locker is clean. You'll feel so much more organized and ready to take on the day!

5. Color code supplies for different classes

Choose a bunch of colorful folders and notebooks and then assign each class a color. For example math could be pink and english could be yellow. It will make life so much easier and faster to grab different colored notebooks for class rather than having to search through a bunch of notebooks that all look the same to find your homework!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
