Back at it again because, in a dream world, I'm a food writer, AND it is GBBO WEEK 2! In keeping with tradition, it's Biscuit Week (Cookie Week). Again, I literally squealed (as quietly as possible, sorry roommate) when someone uploaded it to YouTube and I got to watch my favorite show!
Here's what was on the menu this week:
Signature Challenge- 24 Iced Biscuits
Technical Challenge- 12 Viennese Whirls
Showstopper Challenge- Gingerbread 3D Scene
1. Kate coordinating AGAIN.
So, as we learned last week, Kate is precious and likes things like birds, bees, flowers, and butterflies. Last week, she put swallows on her Mirror Glaze Cake, deciding to wear a dress and earrings with swallows on them. This week to match her butterfly cookies she wore butterfly earrings. ADORABLE.
There were no photos of Kate this week, but this is her and her bird coordination from last week.
2. Andrew and his intelligence.
Andrew is the ginger (first feminine sigh) Cambridge grad (second, slightly higher, feminine sigh) who now works for Rolls Royce as an aerospace engineer (third, scarily high, and intensely breathed in feminine sigh), oh and he's also from Northern Ireland and has a light Irish accent (I've officially passed out at this point). For GBBO fans, he's like Richard Burr from Series 5, except with the added plus that he's ginger and Irish.
In summary, Andrew is brilliant and celebrates this with incredible baking. FOR INSTANCE: This week for his iced biscuit challenge, he made hexagonal, interlocking biscuits that make a BEEHIVE. Right? Precious. For his Showstopper? A remembrance of punting on the river in Cambridge. LOOK OUT FOR THIS ADORABLE GINGER.

3. When Sue Perkins didn't appear in the episode, but did appear in the cut away clip about biscuits.
Sue wasn't there and it was a little off (I love Mel, but the two of them together are part of what makes this show great), but I, for some reason, found absolutely hysterical that though Sue wasn't there. I also love that GBBO is a classic BBC special and has historical cut aways about various baking elements of the show. This is just the most British show EVER.
4. When no one could get the Viennese Whirl dough out of the piping bags.
Viennese Whirls are supposed to be melt in the mouth, therefore the dough is really stiff so that they won't melt in the oven. No one could get the dough out of the piping bags. Except Selasi. Always Selasi being smooth AF.
These are Viennese Whirls, by the way.
5. That Candice won Star Baker.
Candice is precious and made a showstopper based on her early life. Her parents owned a pub and she grew up in and around the business. She dedicated the bake to her parents and hoped they'd be proud of her. I'm sure they are, Candice.
ON TO BREAD WEEK!!!
