There's nothing more refreshing than getting to stay in watching movies or reading fashion magazines; but when the rare, golden opportunity arises for me to do both, I'll immediately jump at the chance.
Many amazing series and movies have been created that are dedicated to fashion and style, from "Sex and the City," to the hit series "Gossip Girl." From the alluring characters, the amazing styles, and location in one of the major fashion capitals of the world; it was basically every girl's dream to aspire the kind of lifestyle these shows portray. Since Blair's days of reigning over the elite have long since passed, I thought it'd be nice to bring back your inner Serena Van Der Woodsen stylings and Blair Waldorf attitude moments from major motion pictures.
I’ve decided to share with you 5 of my favorite fashion related movies:
1. The Devil Wears Prada
This movie was adapted from a book written by Lauren Weisberger, who worked at Vogue magazine for awhile. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out she was inspired by Anna Wintour (American Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief) to create Meryl Streep’s character. I know you've probably seen this movie a thousand times over because I know I sure have. If you haven't seen it then I suggest you do.
2. The September Issue
Speaking of queens. . .
"The September Issue" is a documentary that focuses on Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief. The movie takes place when Vogue is preparing for the start of the “Fashion Year." If you didn’t know, September is like January for fashion magazines everywhere. It's like a fashion New Year; it’s the most important issue of the year, and when you’re the leader of a magazine like Vogue, everything has to be flawless.
3. Coco Before Chanel
This French based movie tells the story of Coco Chanel, all the way from her origins as a seamstress/singer coincidentally named Coco, to the incredible fashion empire she ended up building. She was truly a pioneer in the fashion world and this is definitely a movie worth watching.
4. Breakfast at Tiffany's
Out of all the fashion inspired movies out there, this one is my absolute favorite. "Breakfast at Tiffany’s" is based on a book written by Truman Capote. It revolves around the peculiar life of Holly Golightly, a New York socialite, and her cat. This movie is an absolute fashion classic and has a hint of romance.
Plus who doesn't love a good Audrey Hepburn movie?
5. Confessions of a Shopaholic
Sophie Kinsella had the right idea when she wrote this novel; the best part was when it turned to a major motion picture. Isla Fisher plays the part Rebecca Bloomwood perfectly. If you love to shop and your happiness levees rise every time you see the word “sale," you will relate.
It's a must see movie for a night in with your closest gal pals.
