5. Spider-Gwen (Marvel - Comic Book Series)
In Earth-65 of the Marvel Universe, beloved Gwen Stacy is bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. Bringing to life the head cannon of so many readers, Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez create the compelling story behind Spider-Gwen.
4. Secret Wars (Marvel - Comic Book Series)
Similar to DC's "Convergence" (see below), Marvel introduces a multiverse of fragmented realities from the past coming together in one epic universe. Older characters from "Old Man Logan" and "Marvel Zombies" will be re-introduced in this awesome blast from the past series.
3. Saga (Image Comics - Comic Book Series)
A monthly comic book written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples introduces a unique take on the space-fantasy genre. Heavily influenced by Star Wars, the main characters - husband and wife, Alana and Marko - are fleeing from galactic authorities while in search for their daughter Hazel. This series is both dramatic and hilarious as the duo races through space together.
2. Convergence (DC comics - Comic Book Mini Series)
A mini-series that brought back classic Pre-New-52 story lines for DC comics. The story focuses around Brainiac collecting cities and populations from a multitude of timelines that have ended. He opens them up in an isolated time and space to see what happens.
1. Death of the Family (DC comics - Graphic Novel)
A Batman story-line featuring the Joker meticulously going through every member of the Bat-Family with the intentions of murdering them all. After learning the true identity of Batman, the Joker uses this information to get to every person Batman has ever cared about. Scott Snyder's story line along with Greg Capullo's artwork revitalize the horror and the depth of the relationship between Batman and his arch-nemesis.
