Top 4 Reasons Why Beyoncé Is Repeatedly Referred To As A "Queen"

With Beyoncé performing near my hometown this past week, I couldn't help but think into why everyone loves her so much. Yes, she has great music, but there has to be more to it. What makes her so amazing that she has been given a nickname as top-notch as "Queen B?"

After thinking about it, I came to this conclusion: Beyoncé has been setting some of the best examples for women, and young girls, for years now. Through her music and her lifestyle, she has become the icon of our generation. She is one of the few female celebrities I would encourage my future daughter to look up to. She is one of the few celebrities I myself look up to.

Here's why:

1. She has refined the definition of "healthy" and "beautiful."

Before Beyoncé, healthy and beautiful meant the stick thin women on the runway, which is in fact, not healthy at all. This is why it is so immense that Beyoncé has taught women, and society, that it is okay to have thighs that touch and arms that aren't the circumference of only a few inches. She has taught society that having a body that is thick and toned and can move like no other, is what is really sexy. She set the new standard. She has lessened the competition between girls of "who can be the skinniest," by showing girls what a useless competition it really is. In this sense, Beyoncé has saved the female population.

In her song Flawless she points out the competition when she writes: "we teach girls to shrink themselves / to make themselves smaller."

2. She has showed women how their significant other should treat them.

Not only with her famous lyrics "if you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it," but with her relationship with Jay-Z, she teaches girls to never settle. Whether it's in a performance together, or at a basketball game paparazzi spotted them at, Jay-Z is always treating Beyoncé with the upmost respect. Everyone can always tell what true love they have for each other. This is the type of relationship all girls should aspire to.

In her song Flawless, she mentions her view on relationships twice:

"But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage and we don't teach boys the same?"

"My man made me feel so God damn fine."

3. She has taught girls that it is okay to love yourself - that confidence is a good thing.

If anyone has seen at least one of Beyoncé's performances (and I'm sure you have), you know that she can move and flaunt her body like no other celebrity can. You can tell just by watching her dancing on stage that she is so comfortable in her own skin. She glows because of it. She teaches girls to love themselves the same way she loves herself. Simply through the main lyrics of her song, "I woke up like this / flawless," Beyoncé is preaching to girls they need to appreciate their natural beauty; even when they wake up they're flawless.

4. She demonstrates the benefits of handwork and talent.

Beyoncé is famous due to her own hard work. She writes her music, memorizes dances for her shows, and has a voice that the average person does not possess. She sings about her thoughts on girls aspiring to be successful through their hard work in her song Flawless when she writes:

"We raise girls to each other as competitors / not for jobs or for accomplishments / which I think can be a good thing..."

All in all, Beyoncé is one of the few celebrities today who is very level headed and is inspiring other women all over the country to find happiness in being their true self.

Jay-Z sure got a good one!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
