But when her perfect boyfriend breaks up with her, Elle will stop at nothing to win him back. She passes the LSAT and applies to Harvard Law School. From shopping to partying, Elle takes matters into her own hands and proves she is a bright young woman and worthy. Her blond hair and perfect looks on the outside doesn’t say she sets her sights on academia. Legally Blond is the perfect combination of a fun and outgoing sorority girl, to a smart and serious lawyer.
For a girl it’s appropriate to throw in a classic 90s film anytime. Who doesn’t love the 90s? Well, the clothes and music were a little strange, but the connection most of us have to be born in the 90s is what makes it so great. Clueless is one of the classic girl movies to pull from the 90s. Cher is beautiful, wealthy and has extremely good taste for the 90s. But daddy’s girl can’t have everything handed to her. She learns patience in finding what she wants in life without paying her way through it. A little ditsier than most girls, this is a great film of a superficial teenager trying to make her way through life.
Last but not least, one of the most quoted movies by girls, is Mean Girls. Although Lindsay Lohan was still pretty innocent at this point, the movie was far from it. Mean Girls showed the horrifying outcome of a burn book and how it can tornado through a whole school in a matter of weeks. Katy, the sweet homeschooled girl from Africa has her world turned upside down when she decides to go undercover and become a part of the Plastics. Regina George is the hot head leader of the group and also has control over the whole high school. Katy sabotages Regina’s relationship with her boyfriend, her weight and turns her friends against her. Three things one should mess with when it comes to a queen bee. Mean Girls certainly isn’t an innocent movie, but a classic in girl world.
Legally Blond, Clueless and Mean Girls are very different in story lines, but all share the same story of a young girl trying to make a name for herself. This complicated world doesn’t always make it easy, but with determination, honesty to one's self and help from friends, anything is possible. These three movies would be a great pick and blast from the past.
