The fifth annual Relay For Life happens this Friday and its sure to be a fun time. Relay is packed full of fun games, entertainment and activities that are sure to keep anyone entertained for hours.
1. Duct tape the dean.
An annual Relay tradition, where Dean Waite is suspended in mid-air with strips upon strips of duct tape. Strips of tape will be $1 each.
2. Extreme musical chairs.
Let’s get extreme! This game first made an appearance at the 2015 Relay and it’s back. Fight your way to the last seat and a gift card.
3. Human, Hungry Hippos.
Your favorite childhood board game has come to life. Fly across the gym floor on four-by-four scooters to collect all the balloons you can. Winning team will receive a gift card of their choice.
4. Make an awesome bracelet.
Track your lap with a lap bead bracelet or keychain. For every lap you do, a bead will be added to the bracelet. Choose to keep the bracelet or keychain as a souvenir or choose to donate to child cancer patients.
5. Decorate a hijab.
In honor of National Hijab Day, the Muslim Student Association (MSA) will be hosting a table where participants can purchase their own hijab and decorate it in commemoration of National Hijab Day and Relay For Life 2016.
6. Play some Prize Pong.
The School of Arts, Sciences, and Business will be hosting Prize Pong at their Relay For Life Table. Test your trivia skills and your aim for the chance to win some cool prizes.
7. Eat.
Lunch and dinner will be served in the Athletic and Fitness Center provided by Parkhurst Dining Services. Additionally, the Relay For Life Committee will be providing drinks and light snacks for purchase.
8. Be inspired.
As a part of the Celebration of Life: Survivor and Luminary Ceremony, a survivor will speak to convey their story of battling cancer. The talk will be followed by a survivors lap around the track to remember those who we have lost to the disease, celebrate those who have survived the fight and have hope for those still battling cancer.
9. Dedicate a luminaria.
Dedicate a luminaria to someone in your life living with cancer or who has fallen victim to the disease. Luminaria will be showcased on the Athletic and Fitness Center steps and can be purchased at the event or online at http://relay.acsevents.org/site/PageServer?pagename=relay_getinvolved_luminaria.
10. Get a haircut.
Donate your locks to those in need. Hair will be cut by salon professionals and hair donations will be used to make wigs that are then donated to cancer patients. Also, watch one student as she shaves her head completely.
11. Try the Velcro wall and jousting ring.
Who doesn’t love inflatables? Check out the Velcro wall and give your friend a little tough love in the jousting ring. Inflatables are sponsored by Chatham Student Government and the Office of Student Affairs.
12. Buy Willy Wonka candy.
Purchase Wonka candy in the original Wonka wrappers. All chocolate was donated by Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop.
13. Dance.
Shake your tail feather all day long as the gym will popping with the sick beats dropped by DJ MooseTrax, a.k.a. Lynzy Groves.
14. Watch a SUMO suit competition.
Watch as staff members face off in a very funny SUMO suit competition.
15. Support empty bowls.
Make clay bowls for those in need. Bowls will be glazed and fried in a kiln to be used for the annual hunger banquet.
