Have you been down in the dumps lately? Is today not your day? No need to worry, I have put together a list of the top 10 songs guaranteed to make you smile. If the songs don’t make you smile, then I hope my overuse of bad puns will.
10. The Proclaimers – "I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)"
I will walk 500 miles just to see the smile on your face while this song plays.
9. Fountains of Wayne – "Stacy’s Mom"
You’ve known every word of this song since the day it came out. I mean, it’s the true mark of a millennial. I know you’re waiting to no longer be Stacy and finally be that one mom who’s got it going on.
8. Bleachers – "I Wanna Get Better"
I used to love when this would come on the radio. It’s by far the greatest song to jam out to while you’re stopped at a red light. Don’t worry about the embarrassing Snapchats your friend in the passenger seat just uploaded.
7. OutKast – "Hey Ya!"
This song is a true anthem for anyone who just needs to dance. Even if you’re feeling down, I bet by the end of this song, you’re ready to shake it like a Polaroid picture.
6. Journey – "Don't Stop Believing"
Try not to belt this one out when it starts playing. I hope you're ready rock because there's some major potential for an epic air guitar solo.
5. Natasha Bedingfield - "Pocketful of Sunshine"
So maybe this only made it on my list because of "Easy A," but just like Olive, I could listen to this song on repeat. At first, she might have thought it was the worst song ever, but after one listen she couldn't stop herself from dancing and neither will you.
4. Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros – "Home"
If this song doesn’t put the biggest smile on your face, then keep reading. Not only is this song about the happiest thing in the entire world, falling in love, it’s a duet. Don't worry about finding a special someone to sing with you, friends are better for a jam session anyway.
3. Smash Mouth – "All Star"
Nothing to inspire you to keep going on more than a story about a guy who everyone called a loser and is now a rock star. I mean, this song was in "Shrek" so you know he made it big, and don’t tell me that "Shrek" wasn’t a work of art because I know you loved every second of it.
2. The Monkees – "I’m a Believer"
Yes, I am a believer that you will have a good day today! Or at least a good rest of your day after you finish listening to all of the songs on this list. I honestly think the Smash Mouth version is better, but then this would just be a list of 10 Smash Mouth songs that remind you of your childhood.
1. Wham – "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go"
OK, so this song may or may not be about a break up, but who cares? The tune is lively and vibrant and at least makes me want to get up and dance. Make sure you have your hairbrush ready to act as a microphone because by the time the chorus starts, you'll already be singing along.
