Now that Thanksgiving has officially ended, it’s time to talk about Christmas!! Now, I know everyone gets busy during this time of year: making food, buying presents, trying to get holiday promotions, and trying to make sure grandma doesn’t drop the cranberry sauce again. But of all those things, the most important thing you will do… is make the holiday playlist. My holiday playlist is full of shamazing songs, so I’m going to give you my top 10.
10. "When Christmas Comes Around" sung by Matthew Hall and Meagan Moore
I couldn't have a Christmas playlist without at least one of the songs from The Polar Express, because it’s my favorite Christmas movie. Honestly, I was torn between this one and "Believe" sung by Josh Groban. Both are great songs, so if you'd like to add both to your playlist, it would be acceptable. And after you add the songs, you should go watch the movie. Do it.
9. "Feliz Navidad"
My friend Ellen requested that I add this song to the list. I feel like this song makes it onto everyone’s holiday playlist without really ever being added. It just shows up, which is fine. It’s a good song. A lot of fun to dance too. And it’s good for when you are trying to be really obnoxious about Christmas.
8. "Silent Night" sung by Beyoncé
I’ve heard many a rendition of this song, and none of them have appealed to me quite like Beyoncé’s. Her voice is amazing. She’s an icon. Ya know, the obvious reasons.
7. "8 Days of Christmas" sung by Destiny’s Child
If you're going to have Beyoncé on your playlist, then the obvious next step would be to add Destiny’s Child to it. Keeping with the theme of Christmas, this would be the obvious song to add. Even though it isn't about kids or baby Jesus, it still jams.
6. "Let It Snow" sung by Boyz 2 Men
Now, I grew up with this version of the song, and by comparison all the other ones flop. Feel free to add whichever rendition of this song you feel is most appropriate, but the song has to be there.
5. "Santa Baby" sung by Eartha Kitt
This song is a classic and I feel it’s only right that the original be played at obnoxious volumes throughout the holiday season.
4. "Have Your Self A Merry Little Christmas" sung by Frank Sinatra
Again, this is another song that your playlist would be incomplete without. Imagine it! Egg nog, presents, everyone wearing obnoxious amounts of red and green! And what song is playing in the background? This one! It’s perfect!
3. "Little Drummer Boy" sung by Pentatonix
I came across this song while perusing the Pentatonix’s current catalog, and I’m slightly obsessed with it. They did a fantastic job with it and it’s better than most of the versions I’ve heard. So do yourself a favor and add it to your playlist.
2. "This Christmas" by Chris Brown
I’ve heard three renditions of this song by Chris Brown, Donny Hathaway and Boys 2 men. My favorite is the Boys 2 Men version, but you honestly can’t go wrong with either one.
1. "All I want For Christmas Is You" sung by Mariah Carey
Obviously. She’s a legend. The song is a classic. Enough said.
No matter what your holidays entail, it's always good to have a quality playlist on deck. Hope this helps to make your holidays a turn up time. Oh! Don’t forget to go watch "The Polar Express."
Happy Holidays!
