Okay, so I'm going to out myself as a nerd here, but I’m super excited for the new Pokémon games. Pokémon is just one of those things I never grew out of, and I think a lot of people share the same sentiment. In all honestly, watching these new Pokémon get rolled out is more exciting for me now than it ever has been. Pokémon is a nice, lighthearted escape from the stresses of semi-adult life and rejuvenates a sort of childlike wonder in me. These new versions, "Pokémon Sun and Moon," take place in the Alola Region, which is modeled after the Hawaiian Islands. This is something very new in terms of geography for Pokémon games which presents a lot of potential for a truly unique Pokémon game. So without further ado, I present of list of the new Pokémon that I am most excited for.

Disclaimer: I have a pension for pink Pokémon, Fairy type Pokémon, and Dark type Pokémon.

10. Silvally

Type: Normal

Category: Synthetic Pokémon

When Silvally’s first evolution, Type:Null, was released, no one knew what to make of it. What kind of name is that? Even so, it had a lot of promise. A man-made Pokémon who was so powerful it wore a mask that weakened it. I’m in. Well, Silvally is Type:Null with the mask removed and it's great. The concept of this Frankenstein-Pokémon composed of different parts of other Pokémon was exciting and the design doesn’t disappoint. Furthermore, it bears the ability of changing its type by using exclusive items.

9. Oranguru

Type: Normal/Psychic

Category: Sage Pokémon

All I can say for Oranguru is that I love the design. It’s a psychic orangutan! I love the purple 80s hair and I love the concept that it is an intelligent Pokémon who spends its time meditating in trees. It seems that there is a lot of potential for this to be a powerful Pokémon. Too bad you can only get it in "Pokémon Moon" version.

8. Mimikyu

Type: Ghost/Fairy

Category: Disguise Pokémon

Mimikyu was one of the first Pokémon to be revealed for "Sun and Moon," and it was certainly a divisive reveal. Some loved the cute Ghost/Fairy Pokémon who hides from the sun and looks for friends in a Pikachu costume, while some felt it was a weak design. If you fall into the second camp all I can say is, don’t ever speak to me or my lonely ghost child ever again.

7. Palossand

Type: Ghost/Ground

Category: Sand Castle Pokémon

I couldn’t tell you why, but the concept of a possessed sandcastle is very appealing to me. Honestly, I love it when Pokémon take on darker undertones like Palossand does. The description literally says that it drowns other Pokémon in sand and drains their life force! It also says that it controls human adults, forcing them to build its sand castle disguise. Honestly, I’m into anything that makes adults look foolish.

6. Alolan Meowth

Type: Dark

Category: Scratch Cat Pokémon

One of the really cool things the producers of Pokémon did this time around was that they took old Pokémon and revamped them, giving them special Alolan forms. The first one of these to make the list is Alolan Meowth. It is stated that this Meowth was kept by the royal family of Alola and by living in lazy luxury, changed form. The new form is pretty much Meowth but dark-type and sassier. In reality, those are the only two things a Pokémon needs to win my heart.

5. Lurantis

Type: Grass

Category: Bloom Sickle Pokémon

Lurantis is the beautiful pink bug Pokemon I have been waiting for. Okay, so Lurantis is actually just grass type, which confuses me because it’s literally a Preying Mantis. What can I say other than I have weak spot for pink Pokémon that look like they could strut down a catwalk and murder me at the same time.

4. Alolan Marowak

Type: Fire/Ghost

Category: Bone Keeper Pokémon

I’m just gonna say it: Alolan Marowak is badass! It’s Marowak but now fire and ghost type! Marowak was already a pretty cool Pokémon (who doesn’t love a Pokémon that wears a skull on it’s head and lobs bones at you), but now, it’s black and throws flaming bones at you! Can you tell how excited I am?

3. Drampa

Type: Normal/Dragon

Category: Placid Pokémon

Drampa was another reveal, like Mimikyu, that was divisive. Honestly, I don’t know how someone would not like an old-man dragon. It’s so cute! It’s said that Drampa shows up at parks and schools because they love children, which is honestly so pure. Also, dragon-type Pokémon are just pretty cool in general.

2. Alolan Muk

Type: Poison/Dark

Category: Sludge Pokémon

Alolan Muk was a very recent release. Prior to this, Muk was never a particularly exciting Pokémon. It was just an angry purple pile of sludge. But now, Muk is a colorful pile of sludge with crystal fangs! Any new-form Pokémon that is decidedly pinker and prettier than the old form is win in my book. Even better, it has an added dark type.

1. Tsareena

Type: Grass

Category: Fruit Pokémon

Tsareena earns my top spot in much the same way that Lurantis earned its spot: it looks like it could walk in Fashion Week but also straight-up murder a man. I also really enjoy Pokémon that evolve from very auspicious beginnings. Bounsweet, the first evolution of Tsareena is in no way fierce. However, Tsareena is fierce in every sense of the word. All I can say is: Yaaaaassss Queen!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
