It was pretty hard to create a list of just 10 movies when there are hundreds of films that I absolutely love, but these ones are by far my favorite. If you haven't seen one on this list, save the title for a rainy day, grab some popcorn, and get to watching!
1. Beetlejuice (1988)
Starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, and Winona Ryder, this funny fantasy/horror movie is an absolute classic and can be watched any time of the year, not just around Halloween. I've loved Beetlejuice since a very young age and it will always be one of my favorite movies ever.
2. Good Burger (1997)
"Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order?" Another classic, this 90s movie starring Kenan and Kel is hilarious and never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.
3. It (1990)
Personally, I think Stephen King's 1990 version of It is better than the 2017 adaptation, but to each their own. This thriller/horror movie about a clown that only children can see always scared the hell out of me, but as I grew older I began to see how much of a versatile actor Tim Curry was, and I continue to enjoy the movie to this day, with the lights on of course.
4. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Does this meme look familiar? That's because it's the face of Willy Wonka! Gene Wilder portrays an eccentric chocolate factory owner in this classic 1970s film, who allows children in possession of a golden ticket inside his factory. I won't spoil the ending if you've never seen the movie, but nice guys don't always come last.
5. Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Although this movie was recently released in theaters, it had to make an appearance on this list. A crime is committed on the train detective Hercule Poirot is on and he is called upon to solve the case. Without revealing too much of the plot, I'll just say this: Johnny Depp never fails to completely nail any role he is given, even if he ends up dead by the first 10 minutes.
6. School of Rock (2003)
Jack Black is one of the funniest actors there is. School of Rock is actually classified as a musical, but I think comedy would suit this movie better. Who doesn't want to see a young Miranda Cosgrove acting alongside the big and energetic Jack Black?
7. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
YEAH, BABY, YEAH! Austin Powers is a goofy and quite lustful British spy, who is set on a mission to kill his arch nemesis, Dr. Evil. Mike Meyers is one of the funniest and versatile men in acting, and he certainly performs his role of Austin Powers well in not only International Man of Mystery, but The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember as well.
8. Zodiac (2007)
I could make an entire list out of just Jake Gyllenhaal movies, but I decided on Zodiac because it truly is a great movie. Based on true events, we see how detectives and policemen attempt to catch a serial killer who is taunting law enforcement by sending them letters and calling them on the phone. Although we still don't know exactly who the Zodiac killer is even to this day, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr. do the best they can to catch the evil criminal.
9. Caddyshack (1980)
You may or may not have heard of comedian Rodney Dangerfield, but you certainly must have heard of Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. These 3 hilarious and talented actors star in this cult classic 1980s film based around golf, lust, and an evil groundhog that sabotages the entire game. Although Caddyshack may not be suitable for young children, it is hysterical and entertaining nonetheless.
10. Jumanji (1995)
First things first, Rest in Peace Robin Williams. If you haven't seen this 90s movie starring legendary Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst, you absolutely have to. Portraying a man who has been stuck inside a board game for 26 years, after finally being released Williams and his co-stars must finish the game in order to put the mishappenings that occur to a stop. In this movie you will find wild animals causing a stampede in a small town in New Hampshire, a little boy turning into a monkey, and an evil big-game hunter who is trying to kill Williams. It is a must see by people of all ages.
Honorable Mention: The Spongebob Squarepants Movie (2004)
I'm a goofy goober, YEAH! You're a goofy goober, YEAH! We're all goofy goobers, YEAH! GOOFY GOOFY, GOOBER GOOBER, YEAH! If you know me at all, you know I couldn't just leave this movie out. I'm sure we've all seen our favorite yellow sponge's film a hundred times, but if you haven't, what are you waiting for?!
