My Top 10 More Recent Kpop Songs

Everyone who knows me knows that I have a special place in my heart for Korean culture, especially Korean pop music and Korean dramas. For me this love started in 2013 and it wasn't a rare sight for me to be at school watching Korean pop videos and trying to coerce my friends to watch them with me. While some people obliged me, others wouldn't give the music or videos a chance. One thing for sure about Kpop videos is that they can be quite bizarre looking if you aren't used to them, but they are all really beautiful and the production value always seems through the roof. I know a lot of people who were hesitant at first but then it takes the right song or the right video to get them hooked. Over the summer, I broadened my horizons and branched out into some of the newer Kpop groups that I hadn't known about before. So in no particular order here are my top 10 Kpop songs that came out in the last couple of years.

1. 'Hard Carry' - GOT7

Favorite Lyrics: "I’m not discouraged from anything, You can describe me with one word: spirit"

2. 'Monster' - EXO

Favorite Lyrics: "I can tell you’ve already fallen for me because I can see the curiosity in your eyes, Don’t be afraid, Love is the way"

3. 'Playing With Fire' - BLACKPINK

Favorite Lyrics: "My mom told me every day, To always be careful of guys, Because love is like playing with fire, I’ll get hurt"

4. 'Blood, Sweat, and Tears' - BTS

Favorite Lyrics: "My blood sweat and tears and, My body mind and soul, Know well that I am yours"

5. 'If You Do' - GOT7

Favorite Lyrics: "If you do it’s good, if I do it’s done, How can you always say that I’m wrong, You always want to win, Tears are your ultimate weapon"

6. 'I Wait' - DAY6

10. 'Lotto' - EXO

Favorite Lyrics: "You’re my luck, you make me, Throw my heart into a thread-like chance, Now the others have their popcorn, Waiting to see what happens to us"

Maybe now with some of my more recent favorites as options, you can grow to love Kpop too.
