15 Songs That Everyone Should Listen To (Part 1)

Maybe you're like me and you always need some music in your life. Maybe you also love different types of music, or maybe you're a one genre kind of person. This list will have songs, albums and collections from different genres and time periods that I enjoy and that you might, too. Oh, and some of the songs are explicit so if you have sensitive ears...you should still listen to them. It'll be okay.

1. Simple and Clean (Kingdom Hearts)

Video game soundtracks can make or break a game, and the soundtracks in both "Final Fantasy" and "Kingdom Hearts" are definitely worth giving a listen. Granted, I can't just fill up this list with video game songs, so I chose one that is simple and clean. I recommend both the original and the cover version by Mree. The original is already amazing, and then Mree's cover is just heart touching. There's a moment when she mixes the English lyrics with the Japanese lyrics that purred my ears to bliss.

2. A$AP Ferg

Putting A$AP Ferg after a song from a video game with Disney characters is weird, right? Either way, he should be on this list. Enjoy his hype music when you're working out, or you know, doing something you probably hate like washing dishes. If his entire spectrum of music is too much to choose from, start with songs like "New Level," "Hungry Ham" and "Let It Bang."

3. I Hate U I Love U - Gnash ft. Olivia O' Brien

"Friends can break your heart too." This song is all about lost love. I'm sure most of us can relate to a relationship where you should hate the other person, but you just can't. Well, know that you aren't the only one who feels that way, and this song confirms that.

4. Bedless - Pierce the Veil

The song has a nice upbeat sound to it, which first lead me to believe it was a nice happy song. Well, listen to the lyrics and you can sense the underlying sadness that comes with the upbeat tone.

5. Shoop - Salt-N-Pepa

I won't say that I just knew this song, nor would I say I only know this song because of Deadpool, but it has that nice steady beat that you can't help but to rock to. And come on, if Deadpool likes it, can you really not enjoy it yourself?

6. Middle - DJ Snake

I personally enjoy ignoring everything about this song and focusing solely on how it makes me feel. Every time I listen to it, I imagine a group of friends just hanging out, doing crazy things together and simply enjoying life. That should be a good enough reason for you to listen to this song. Then, a day will come when you'll be thinking of a perfect song to play on an adventure with friends, but you won't remember this song and probably will pick something that gets the aux cord taken away from you.

7. Mind Of Mine album - Zayn

Just sit there and listen to this entire album. I can't say there is a single song on this album I dislike, but I definitely recommend TiO, Lucozade, and Wrong if for some reason you don't have time for the whole album.

8. Oldie - Odd Future

I can't talk about music I enjoy without mentioning "Odd Future." I'm sure most of us know them. The free spirits whose controversial lyrics makes a good amount of people mad, disgusted, and sad in humanity. That being said, I enjoy "Odd Future," and this song is great because it has a collection of the members all rapping together, and you get to experience their different styles in a ten minute song. Yes, ten great moral questioning songs.

9. Talking Body - Tove Lo

I work out to this song. Is it a good workout song? Maybe. All I know is that if I'm working out, this song will be played.

10. Leave the Night On - Sam Hunt

I'm not much of a country music listener. That being said, I can't help but really enjoy this song. Sam Hunt is my bridge to country music whenever I say "I listen to a lot of different types of music." I enjoy the rhythm and Hunt's flow in this song and many others. If you're not much of a country music listener, try this song and see how your body reacts.

11. Kaytranada

This man doesn't just get one of his songs on an album. This is me suggesting you listen to anything he makes. He is a great producer with fun songs, great mixes to songs such as "Creep" by TLC, "Holding On" by Flume and "If" by Janet Jackson. Not to mention, his videos are great. In "Lite Spots," he creates a robot and teaches it dance moves. It is an awesome concept and the video really connects with the song.

12. Stan - Eminem

A man who also deserve for you to listen to all of his songs on repeat as you go from songs of hate, love, fun, and more hate all with a good amount of Eminem tossing curse words like hellos. Let's face it, though, all of us listened to Eminem, so there was no real point in putting him on this list. But, in case some poor soul hasn't listened to Eminem, after careful consideration, "Stan" was my go-to Eminem song for the noobs. It embodies who Eminem is an artist. It is in no way a soft song meant to draw you in and build you up to listening him. But (excuse my bold but entirely true statement) every Eminem fan loves the song Stan, and if you don't like this song, especially after watching the video, then you will never be a fan of Eminem.

13. You're Not There - Lukas Graham

This song is pretty deep, as with most of Lukas Graham's songs. The lyrics suggest a parent who passed away too early and how it feels to grow up without them. It is definitely a song to listen to as we all wish we had more time with someone we love.

14. Ain't My Type of Hype - Full Force

Anyone who saw and remembers the movie House Party knows this song. It's the legendary dance scene where Kid N' Play was born. Don't know Kid N' Play? Go on YouTube... I'll wait. Plus, this list needed some more old school.

<span id="selection-marker-1" class="redactor-selection-marker"></span>

Now, I can't end this list without a musical legend. With so many to choose from it was tough, but based on this list, I know exactly what to pick...

15. Walk This Way - Aerosmith and Run DMC

One of the greatest bridges ever built. The bridge between hip-hop and rock, and no one deserves credit for this more than Aerosmith and Run DMC.

Did you know all these songs? Or none of them? Did I get a few of your favorites? Are there songs you think should have been including on part 1 of this list? (of course there are). Why am I doing the narrator thing from Dragon Ball Z? Tune in to Part 2 of this list in the upcoming weeks to find out.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
