On October 30, Democratic Presidential Candidate, Hillary Clinton visited the Atlanta University Center for her "African Americans For Hillary" Rally. Many celebrities in the Atlanta, Georgia Area who supported her such as Usher, Grant Hill, John Lewis, Mayor Kasim Reed and many others attended to hear her remarks and show their support of the former Secretary of State. When Hillary first began her speech, she was immediately interrupted by Black Lives Matter Protesters from the Atlanta University Center campus organization, #AUCShutItDown. Due to these events, they began a campaign that spread across the country on social media through a hashtag entitled #Hillary4Who.
10. Due to there being an overwhelming number of requests to attend the Rally, many students from Spelman and Morehouse College, and Clark Atlanta University were unfortunately unable to enter the venue. This sparked serious controversy since Clinton came to speak to the students specifically, and everyone except the students were allowed to witness her speech. If the students could not attend, who could?
9. Avery Jackson, Morehouse College student and the leader of the Black Lives Matter, AUCShutItDown Protests was escorted out after the protests went on for 30 minutes. As he was escorted out, he still chanted, "Hell you talmbout?" with his fist in the air to acknowledge the presence of the Black Lives Matter movement members in the room, even though he would no longer be in the room himself. Later that evening, Jackson gave an interview to CNN.
8. With police brutality at its peak, no one takes these comments lightly. Protesters had to watch their backs and fear that they would experience violent reactions. It was understood that what they were doing was going to be dangerous and controversial in the context of the presidential election, but they did it to raise awareness and demand change.
7. With notable entertainers and celebrities in attendance, many chose to attend this event as a publicity stunt. Cameras, students and journalists were there to publicize their presence and increase their fanbase. Usher took the time to speak to protesters outside the event and mentioned how the protesters did not allow Clinton to speak and voice her opinions. Could it be that Usher, in speaking to the students, only wanted publicity? There are endless possible answers to this question.

6. According to students, Hillary has given her stance on Black Lives Matter many times before. Her responses, in comments by her during debates and to other political figures, have been dishonest and unbelievable. Through her "African Americans for Hillary" Rally, she was publicly stating her opinions to the audience with hopes of having them support her opinions and views. They are tired of hearing the same thing, and instead of hearing her opinions they want her to show them what she is willing to do to stand behind the Black Lives Matter Community.

5. Students have stood by and watched Hillary Clinton not do anything in regards to the Black Lives Matter Movement. They demand that before she requests work in the movement, she should do something as well. As stated in their protests, "rhetoric is not enough" they believe that more should be done before change can come.
4. Although AUCShutItDown received support from students, many adults attending the event were embarrassed by the protests during her speech. Congressman John Lewis and Former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young went to the protesters and asked them to stop and listen to Clinton. Many of the observers on site were unable to listen to Hillary's speech due to the protesters, causing many of the adults to tell them to have a seat and listen.
3. Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders has been known by the Black American Community to have marched with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and stood by the civil rights movement for years. He has voiced that he stands behind the Black Lives Matter movement as well. At the rally, supporters were chanting "Hillary, Hillary!" and this gave protesters the thought of when can they say that they have marched with Dr. King. Due to the fact that she has not, this gave the Sanders supporters something to hold against Clinton supporters.
2. As stated earlier, it is believed by many Black Lives Matter supporters that the rally was an entire publicity stunt. They believe that Hillary only came to the Atlanta University Center because it is the hub of African-American students in the south and she wanted to pull the wool over their eyes to what she really supports. Many students felt disrespected that she chose to come to their home and pretended to support something she did not.
1. AUCShutItDown stands for something more than just its name. They have chosen to take the road less traveled and voice their demand for change in ways that many would be afraid to do. Even though they were silenced, and escorted out of a rally on their campus, they pledge to still strive to fight for what they believe in.
