The Top 10 Hannah Montana Hits
Disney Music

In middle school, remember when we used to make a weird playlist of Disney Channel and Colbie Caillat songs, burn it on a blank CD, decorate said CD, and then give it to our BFF? Well, the other day I uncovered the Holy Grail of these types of mix CDs. My little group of friends called ourselves “The FFF” (aka: The Fantabulous Five Friends) and the CD I found was called “The FFF’s Favorite Songs!!!!!”... appropriately written in multiple Sharpie colors with plenty of exclamation points. The playlist was littered with Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus songs. However, we had to also include the Jonas Brothers on this 60 minute blank CD, so we had to pick the best Hannah hits.

1. Best of Both Worlds

To be honest, this song isn’t even that great, but it would be sacrilegious to NOT put it on this list. The theme to the hit TV show was the anthem for all middle school girls with straightened side bangs.

2. Old Blue Jeans

Listening to this song again made me want to go out and buy a pair of dark wash, extra flair, low waisted, jeans… with bedazzled pockets of course.

3. True Friend

Do you recall images of your mom taking another two advil because she was a 40 year old woman driving a car full of 12 year old girls screaming the lyrics to “True Friend”? Me too.

4. Fly on the Wall

I think the music video for this song is what makes it so great. I remembered the part where the boy’s cup changes to a camera to be much more realistic though. Even though this was leaking into Miley's "edgy" stage, this song still deserves a spot on the list because it's catchy and Miley looks super cool creeping around a Parking Garage.

5. Who Said

Super Old School Hannah Montana, but NOTHING is better than Super Old School Hannah Montana. I still get chills when she belts, "IMAAAAGIIIINE THAAAAT!"

6. Pumping Up the Party

I just realized how repetitive this song is, but I guess easy to remember, repetitive lyrics are what spoke to our middle school hearts. Also, my BFF Grace and I made up killer dance moves to this song at a sleepover once. It belongs on this list.

7. Rock Star

I remember clearly thinking of the cute boy in middle school (Sam Torejan, I'm looking at you) when she sang, "Sometimes I walk a little faster in the school hallway just to get next to you." What golden (slightly stalkerish) lyrics.

8. Let's Dance

No one can resist dancing along to this beaut of a song. Try to. I dare you. My best memory of this song was hearing it for the first time at the HANNAH MONTANA CONCERT I went to. I immediately fell in love with it, especially with the super colorful skirts they used! My middle school heart was more than content with catchy lyrics and neon colors.

9. If We Were a Movie

Don't you dare disregard the fact that you listened to this song just to daydream about that boy (Sam) because Hannah put all your thoughts into (rhyming) words.

10. Nobody's Perfect

Do not argue with me that this isn't the best Hannah Montana song ever...possibly even the best SONG ever. The day the music video for this song premiered on Disney Channel, my older sister and I (not so) patiently waited for it to come on. Afterwards, I reenacted the entire performance in my pleated Limited Too skirt on our coffee table. Best. Song. Ever.

So, even though Hannah is dead, we can still remember her by breaking out our old mix CDs and listening to these beauts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
