Top 10 Favorite Things About Fall

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love almost everything about the season! From apple picking to fall leaves its a barrel of fun. I hope you enjoy my carefully constructed list of things other people enjoy as well as what I enjoy. These are my Top 10 favorite things about Fall!

1. Leaves

Fall leaves are my ultimate favorite thing about Fall. I love the crunch they make when I'm walking on the sidewalk underneath my feet. Fall foliage is super pretty as well! Fall leaves make me, personally, incredibly happy about the season!

2. Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie has been my favorite thing to make this year! I have always loved Pumpkin pie as a kid, so this has always made me extremely giddy.

3. Halloween

Halloween is a favorite holiday among some of my friends and my family members. We love the scary costumes and the fun parties! I wish I could say it was number one in my book but you know, pie and leaves come first! Plus, I mean, the candy! In Massachusetts we have a town called Salem and they do a huge festival every single year and do a haunted walk because that's where the witch trials took place. My step father and mother and I dressed up as the trio from The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy, Tin Man, and Lion)... I'm not joking when I say people came up to take pictures with us!

4. Pumpkin Carving

When I was younger, my dad used to gut out the pumpkin and make pumpkin seeds with the inside seeds. I have a lot of lovable memories surrounded by pumpkin carving. Pumpkin carving is a Fall essential and we also always ate chestnuts when we did this!

5. Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time surrounded by family. Most importantly, I really love the food. I used to live out in Massachusetts so this is definitely one of my favorite parts of Fall. We actually celebrated Thanksgiving one year at Plymouth Plantation (super cool!)!

6. New Bath and Body Works Products

The new fall scents are always something to look forward to over the fall season! I worked at Bath and Body Works last Fall actually, and I must say the Marshmallow, Country Apple, and Golden Autumn Day are among some of my favorites between this year and a couple years back.

7. Burning Candles

Everyone in my family loves burning candles, but surprisingly only in the Fall and Winter. Why? I don't know and I'll never understand. We would plan a fall trip every year out to the big Yankee Candle in Springfield, Massachusetts. I know other families that participate in that as well. The candle smells in Fall are just amazing!

8. Picking Apples

Apple picking is fun for the whole family. In Massachusetts, I came from an area near Leominster. Leominster was actually where Johnny Appleseed planted his seeds and New Yorkers are constantly coming to our hometown in order to pick from the local apple farm. I remember eating apple crisp and making apple tarts. There were all kinds of things we could do with apples.

9. Apple Cider

Drinking cider in New England is a big deal, especially in my family! In my family, we buy tons of jugs every single Fall. We practically are Market Baskets best customers when it comes to cider!

10. Haunted Houses and Haunted Trails

I'm not really a big fan of these, but I think a lot of people like them so that's why they make it on the list. I'm actually terrified of haunted houses. Haunted houses are a fun way to spend time with friends and watching the show is apparently hilarious to people who love going. A lot of people love the horror aspect and getting to see favorite scenes reenacted.

Have a safe and happy Fall everyone!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
