"Too Old"... just an excuse.
My grandfather is hitting his 80's and he goes non-stop. He works outside, he goes swimming, he cooks, he cleans, he grocery shops, he constantly builds onto his never ending pool deck area, he works hard on his tan, and the list only goes on. Never once in my life have I ever heard him even semi-seriously say, "I'm too old."
My grandfather understands that yes, he is growing up and getting old, but he doesn't identify himself as 'old'. He is probably the youngest old man I know. His spirits are positive, he gets up at the same time everyday and falls asleep at the same time every night. He keeps himself in check and has such a young soul. He won't go on with his day unless he has put a smile on your face and done something productive.
As Happy, one of the dwarfs in "Snow White" says, "You are never too old to be young."
That is the real truth.
Being "too old" is just an excuse. Most of the time, you say it to get out of something. Maybe your child asks you, "Do you want to blow bubbles outside?" Do you really think you're incapable of blowing bubbles with your child? The reason I bring this up is because a lot of adults, especially among the ages of 25-45, are most commonly the ones to use this phrase. Stop using that as an excuse especially when you're younger because it will only make getting older much harder.
You're never 'too old' to...
Run around outside.
Go trick-or-treating.
Play a sport.
Write a letter to Santa with your child or family member.
Go for a walk.
Ride a rollercoaster.
Blow bubbles outside.
Have a beer.
Run a 5k.
Hit the gym.
Lift some weights.
Get in your cardio.
Build a sand castle.
Do karaoke.
Watch the sun set.
Be adventurous.
Get your degree.
Set new goals and dream.
Go bowling.
Play laser tag.
Do a craft.
Binge watch a TV show or movie series.
Go to a concert or sports game.
Play dress-up.
Have a pillow fight.
Invent something.
Be creative.
Change up your style.
Do something spontaneous.
All of these ideas listed certainly do not end here. The possibilities are endless. You're never "too old" for anything.
If you say you're "too old" for things now, you're going to someday wish you were this age again to be able to actually be younger again. Enough wasting precious time complaining by labeling yourself as "old" and, instead, go out and do something today.
