We have our good days, we have our bad days, and we just have days. They all tend to mesh together, we find ourselves mindlessly going through our everyday routine. Tick Tock goes the clock along with our lives. So what snaps us out of our mindless routine, what makes our normal days a little brighter?

I believe the answer is kindness.

Have you ever had a bad day, the kind where life just keeps taking shots at you and you're ready to either flip a table or scream? We've all been there, and sometimes those days remain bad. Sometimes we can't find the ray of sunshine in our stormy day. But there are those stormy days when a ray of light breaks through unexpectedly. A simple act of kindness that breaks through the darkness.

I was recently at my favorite Starbucks, and I was having one of those bad days. I went to do my homework and after ordering my drink and settling down I realized I forgot my homework on my coffee table. Life took another shot at me and I responded with a very dramatic "UGH." My favorite barista seemed to notice my frustration because when my drink came out it wasn't the small size I ordered, It was a large. Such a simple act, intentionally giving me a larger drink than the one I ordered, but it completely changed my mood. One random act of kindness broke through my dark day.

You see spreading kindness isn't hard, whether it's paying it forward or kind words, all it takes is putting thought to action. I have seen my fair share of kind acts, the ones that brighten the day of a stranger or even a friend. A smile offered, words of encouragement, simply paying it forward. All of this, it spreads like wildfire, one act can be the beginning of many others. Spreading kindness sparks a fire in others, one they want to share as well. It's contagious and I guarantee you will want to catch it.

On our bad days and our good days it is the kindness of others that remind us that our lives can be full of color.

So today put color back into someone's world. We've all been in our dark days, we've all wanted a reason to smile. Take the time to be that reason. Spreading joy also brings joy and we all know the world can use a lot more of it.

On your good day, spread love and kindness. Whether it be to a stranger or a friend, we are all capable of a simple, random, selfless act of kindness. On your bad day look for kindness, look for that ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds.

Kindness and love, these things are both free all we need to do is give them.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
