Dear Best Friend,
There aren’t enough words to thank you for all you’ve done for me. Through my ups and downs, you have stood beside me. Sure we have our small fights, but that never wavered our friendship. We had a typical middle school friendship of love each other one day; hate each other for two years. Reconnecting with you in 8th grade was the best decision I ever made. We were always hanging out in high school, always having fun. There was never a dull moment between us. We have memories between us that still make us crack up just as hard as when they first happened. There is no other way to describe you other than as my best friend. No one will ever fill that slot. After high school ended, I worried we would drift apart. That’s always how those situations seem to go. Thankfully I was wrong. Our friendship is as strong as ever. We always just pick up right where we left off. There is never any forced conversation or any pressure to hang out. You're everything a best friend should be.
The title “Best Friend” comes with a lot of responsibilities. It’s more than just being a friend. I trust you with all my secrets. Who needs a diary when I have you? It’s about helping each other, being there for each other, and loving each other for who we are. Those are big shoes to fill, but luckily you have big feet.
I would never want another best friend. You were there for basically every important event during my developmental years and all my unimportant events during the past few years. Having a best friend like you is rare. So thank you, for always being there when I need you. Thank you for lifting me up instead of pushing me down. Thank you for understanding me. Thank you for fighting for me instead of with me. There is no other person I’d rather dive into adulthood with than you. You're my rock, the one I tell literally everything to. When someone says, "Don't tell anyone" you don't count.
Even though we go to separate colleges in separate states, I hope we continue to hold our friendship. It's something I wouldn't change for the world. Who else would I watch Ghost Adventures with and eat cookie dough? Adult life is going to throw us some curve balls, and I hope we can make it through them all and still come out on top. I never want to lose you as my best friend, because you have no replacement.
I love you, Best Friend.
Love,
Your Grateful Best Friend.
