To Those Looking For A Lighthouse

The story of the friendship that keeps me above the current

To Those Looking For A Lighthouse
Molly Slaten Moorer

I have spent the entirety of my life holding my breath. Counting down the days before the people I grow near with vanish and fearing the time that they finally untangle my matted hair only to acquire the revelation that I lie in shambles. Yes, things change, but I change far too quick for most human liking. Thus, making it easier for the people I love to leave and making it easier for me to make monsters out of the ones I have loved. Some might call it brave, to keep holding on. I assume it means that you want something and that you are willing to fight for it. However, it gets tiring when all you can do is pull and tug; sometimes, you need to let go in order to breathe easier. In the words of Ernest Hemingway, "{It'll} ache, and you're going to love it. It will crush you, and you're still going to love it." He is right, It aches and you love it, it crushes you and you love it; but only because you subconsciously think you deserve it. Society has taught us to hurt one another then look each other square in the eyes and ask why we are in pain. That is what it is like when you begin to lose someone, you question the pain, "Does this hurt or is this love?" And quiet frankly, I do not know the difference. What I do know is the importance of the pain in order to finally feel the love. The pain pounds on, relationship after relationship. But the love will come one day, and you will appreciate it so much more due to the amount of previous hurt. For me, that feeling of love came almost one year ago. Although that person entered my life not long ago, she has managed to stand by my side as I opened my mouth to release all of my sacred memories. I know this task was rather difficult for often I am too much to handle. But somehow, she managed to do it. She has fought against my mind, and let me tell you, she has fought like a warrior. Courageous, I would call her, to rebel against myself when I tried to pull away. So thank you, my friend, for staying when I gave you an out. And for you all, if you have not found a person like mine, let your faith in the unseen be the fuel to keep you adventuring. And when you finally find that one person that radiates with love, I pray, that they will stay.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
