To those in the "party stage" of life:
Have fun. Enjoy the time you spend drinking and hanging out in social settings like bars with your friends. Soon everyone will be married, have kids and nobody will have time to "grab a beer" on a Wednesday anymore. Enjoy the times when you and your party friends get so drunk you don't remember what happened after 10 PM. Enjoy all the goofy pictures you take, and all the stories you acquire to tell people later.
Enjoy the party stage, but don't forget about the people in your life who take care of you during your "party stage."
Don't forget about the people who remind you about that midterm paper you have due tonight- better not forget about it, because it's half your grade.
Don't forget about the people who encourage you to go to class on the mornings you don't feel like getting out of bed- remember, participation is half the grade.
Don't forget about the people who encourage you to better yourself in various ways- whether it is taking a class you think you won't be able to handle or applying for a job you think is above you. Encouraging you is our way of saying you can do anything you set your mind to, and we want you to know that.
Don't forget about the people who remind you to take care of yourself- please drink plenty of water, and did you remember to eat today?
Don't forget about the people who are there to pick you up from the party you no longer want to be at- yes it's 3 AM, but I would rather you be safe than anywhere you're not enjoying yourself.
Last, but not least, don't forget about the people who are there for you after the party is over. The people who listen to your drunk antics for hours on end without ever telling you to stop; the people who make sure you have Gatorade and plenty of Advil for the hangover you're going to have in the morning; the people who make sure you have plenty of food the next day, because you'll need to eat, even if you don't feel like it.
Party friends are great and fun, but don't forget about the people who truly care about you while you're busy with your party crowd.
