Being a teen and being in high school can get rough. It can get to some people and it is a time when everything changes. Being in high school is being between wanting more freedom and being terrified because people expect you to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. It is so easy to get all caught up in the dramas and stresses of being in high school.

This is to the teen who is wise beyond his years. You haven’t had an easy time in high school and have had many hard times throughout your entire life. Throughout all your hardships, you always rise stronger. You have a lot to be angry and sad about, but you push through it every time. Life hasn’t always come easy to you which made you a fighter.

Although you are tough and strong, you also have the biggest heart. You are protective of your loved ones and strive to be a good person. You refuse to let people walk over you or the people you love. Standing up for yourself and other people is a strong suit of yours. You stand up for other people because you know what it is like to be hurt.

You may be young but you aren’t naïve. You know exactly who you are and you know how to deal with life and the obstacles it throws at you. You have goals and strive for them. The future is always in the back of your mind which makes you mindful of your actions. You hate that you make mistakes but you also learn from them. You have already built yourself up to the person you strive to be. You are always improving yourself and you have become strong-hearted.

You know life will always be hard, but you are prepared for what comes at you. The fight in you hasn’t gone away, instead it has become stronger with every obstacle you face. The hardships you have went through have proved that you can make it through just about anything.

The person you have become is something to be proud about. Nobody is perfect, so it is okay to make mistakes because it is what makes you who you are today. Your hardships don’t define you. You are wise and strong and you care a lot about people. You always strive to make people laugh even when they are down. If you can make someone’s day better, you will. If you can help somebody, you will. A strong and kind heart is the best kind of heart. It is a heart that has been through a lot but is stronger than ever.

I can’t say life will get easier after high school and I can’t say it won’t get harder. You have a strong enough heart to overcome anything. You are wise and smart which will be beneficial to you for whatever life throws at you. Never give up on your dreams and never lose who you are. I am very proud of you.

Happy birthday.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
