To The Teacher Who Never Believed In Me

Teaching isn't for everyone. It obviously isn't for you.

To The Teacher Who Never Believed In Me
Do You Like Movies About Gladiators?

I will admit that it was not only your fault. By my senior year, I had everyone wrapped around my finger. I had a cocky aura to me where I knew I could get anything and everything that I wanted. I was never tardy and my absences were always excused even though they shouldn’t have been. I can see the frustration you probably contained towards me because I always manipulated things to how I wanted it. To this day I will never forget what you told me. You looked at my online application for Washington State University, and you told me “I wouldn’t bother going to college. You’ll drop out after the first month. You’re not even good enough to be a waitress. You’ll never make it in life.” I hope no student ever has to hear those words. I hope no student ever has to second guess themselves and worry like I did for so long if you were right or not. But since that day here are some things that as a terrible teacher, you could use to better yourself.

Here's a big thank you.
Every time dropping out seems like a better option, it's important to prove the people who doubt their students wrong. Students should never allow a teacher to believe that an individual will not succeed. Students should never believe the false words that come from a teacher either.

Students should continue to try new things.

Although a terrible teacher can tell a student how horrible they are at a specific thing, that student should know that the teacher is clueless to what they are talking about. They should never stop trying to learn and trying to better themselves at something.

You can be one of the most memorable teachers.
A negative teacher can be memorable in the sense that a student will always remember the negative thoughts and words that were said, and use that to better themselves.

Other teachers will become close to that student.
After hearing how horrible one single person can be, those teachers will pick up the slack and show love and admiration for the student. They will be everything the negative teacher isn't and be a light in the student's life.

The student can be much more successful than the teacher will ever be.

As students continue to further and better themselves, they will realize they have much more potential than any of that teacher might have. They can be just as successful as any educator if not more. A huge reason why no educator should doubt any student.

You’ll be the laughing joke for years to come.

Students will talk about how horrible of a teacher someone can be, and it'll be used as a mockery. "Remember when Mr./Mrs. so and so said this?" And students will just laugh at how pathetic that teacher was.

After all of the doubt you had towards me, don’t ever apologize. You helped make me into who I am today. You are the reason I want to go into education at some point and help shape kids into the future leaders of America. Not bring them down. You have helped me reach higher than I thought I could, and helped make me realize the type of people I don’t need in my life. While you tried to bring me down you only raised me up. But thank you. Thank you for helping me realize I’m capable of overcoming demeaning messages anyone might tell me, and pushing myself to be better than you ever made me out to be.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
