If you’re like me, your friend group is a collection of very different characters, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. To the outsider you all do not seem like you would mesh well, but for some strange reason you fit together like the pieces of a puzzle. Your friend group is your family, your home away from home, and you should appreciate each and every one of those family members. I’m the forever child.
This article is dedicated to the "mom," as she is an essential member in any friend group. The rest of the group loves you -yes even the slightly reckless forever child- and we all know we wouldn’t survive without you, you’re a core member of this group, this family.
We appreciate you’re nagging.
We appreciate it when you tell us to get it together. We love that you force us to work hard and do our best. Without you we wouldn’t be who we are today. A little nagging may be difficult to accept initially, but we always know that you have our best interests at heart, and we love that about you.
We thank-you for saving us.
Let’s be honest, me being the forever child of the friend group, I sometimes get myself into situations where I need to be saved. Whether it be a bad date, or a bail out from jail (this hasn’t happened to me yet don’t worry) everyone in the group knows that the mom will always be there for us. Will she be mildly annoyed, yes. Will she still love you, absolutely.
We can’t function without you.
We all know who the mom of the group is. It’s the most obvious of the members. You know that we need you more than anyone else. You bring this group together. You are Switzerland when we get into a dispute. You are the rock that remains when an earthquake hits. You are the one we all look to when things get rough. Thank you for accepting the challenge of being the mom, without you this group wouldn’t exist.
You’re not a regular mom, you’re a cool mom.
We keep referring to you as a mom, but you are not like a normal mom. For one, you are our age and therefore on our level. We appreciate that while you know you’re the mom of the group, you’re also a pretty cool girl. You are always up for shenanigans that you know will be both fun and safe. However, you do not judge us when we participate in other shenanigans that although may be equally as fun, may not be equally as safe. You have the gift of knowing your limits, while we are still trying to find ours. Me being the forever child, I definitely have a long way to go. Thank you for letting me figure it out at my own pace, and not judging me along the way.
We love you.
You are the corner piece of the puzzle, the one that starts it all. We wouldn’t be where we are without you and we don’t think you should ever change. We love you to the moon and back.
Sincerely,
The group (especially the forever child)
