Oh ________! What can I say about the place that I was born and raised and used to call home for 18-19 years. As a child, you had my heart with the fact that life was so simple and life seemed so quiet and peaceful in a sense. I felt like ________ would be the place that I would spend my entire life because of how warm and welcoming it seemed. However, as time passed so did my love for the world of tranquility that I called _________. What was once full of warmth was now filled with greed and arrogance. My eyes were opened quite rapidly to the fact that the world is not a considerate place, the second that people from every direction were moving to _________ for their own share of the greed. (Ouch I bet that hurt for some of y'all back home but I HONESTLY COULDN'T CARE LESS what someone has to think about this). I have had to bear witness to people close to me having to endure working in the corruption and greed that surrounds them because my quality of life was their first priority; the pain and suffering that I have seen all this infuriates me to my very core. When people begin to put their own benefits and status before the quality of living and education in a town, you know there is definitely a problem. Don’t get me wrong I’m not ashamed of the hometown that I come from but I am disappointed in the fact that it is falling apart more and more as time passes and the people that were once bright lights have now given up hope of things getting any better. Moving for college has probably been one of the best things to happen in my life because I’m pretty sure I would have lost my mind if I was still there. As much as I’m not a fan of it, my hometown will always have a place in my heart. There is absolutely no indication of where I’ll end of living when I’m out of college but I know for certain I will not end up back in my hometown if the trend continues. I pray that changes for the better but only time can tell. I know some of y’all may be confused about this particular article because it’s kind of like a rant but this has a deeper message to this; we as a society need to change our mentality on being so egocentric because newsflash the world does not revolve around you. Our society focuses so much on, “How can I make more money or look better than everyone else?” when we need to be focusing on the problems that we keep overlooking because we’re so busy looking at ourselves in the mirror or posting the next picture on Instagram to get as many likes as possible. Sorry to break it to you but looks and money fade away and so will this society if we continue to act like nothing is wrong. I honestly hope you look at the society around you or back home and think about what is actually going on; not what your mommy and daddies are telling you is happening. You have a brain, how about you actually USE IT? Is that a hard concept for you or are you just too stubborn to admit that you got called out? I’m probably not some peoples’ favorite person after this but oops I can hand you some ice for your burns later if you’d like.

I hope you take something away from this because our future depends on our actions today.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
