To The Heart That Is Tired Of Waiting

Do you allow God to tell you what to do, or do you tell Him what to do?

Patience. Wait. Trust in His timing.

If you are seeking after what God wants you to do in life, those are more than likely the words that you hear spoken to you. If we are being honest, those are usually not the words we like to hear. We want what we want and we want it when we want it. Unfortunately, that is not how God works. I learned it the hard way. About two years ago, I thought I knew what was best for me and I prayed so hard for it to become true. I did not even think twice if that was God’s plan for my life because I knew that was His plan. Boy, was I wrong. I became so enthralled in my own plans that I put God’s will on the back burner. Here’s where it became toxic: I was so determined for that prayer to become evident that I basically told God, “This is how it is going to be whether it is Your will or not.” In that moment, I really thought I was powerful enough to change God’s will. I wanted what I wanted, and I was going to get it. HA. I bet this whole time God was just shaking His head and saying, “My child, if you would only wait.” That four letter word — wait. I used to cringe when I heard it. Why did I have to wait when I knew what I wanted? I knew exactly what my plan was and waiting around for it to happen was so pointless.

Thankfully, God’s Word is like a reality check reminding me that it is not about me but about HIM. He knows. He knows. He knows. I cannot stress this enough, but He knows what is best for your life. Be still and KNOW that He is God. He is sovereign. He is good. He only wants the best for you, and sometimes we have to wait for His best. He does not want you to settle for less because He sees who you are in Him. He sees a life full of purpose and passion for you when you see average. We cannot be content with living a life just trying to get by. We have to be willing to commit to what God wants us to do. The life God has planned for you is far more worthwhile than the life you have planned. He knows who you can be because He knows the future. Trust His ways. If you are waiting, you are in good company. The people God used to do great things had to wait because He was preparing them. Do not look at the waiting process as a bad thing. Embrace it because God is molding and shaping you into the person He has called you to be.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

God knew we would plan our lives, but what He has planned is WORTH the wait. Seek Him, and He will show you who you are. Pray always. Do not grow weary in waiting. You were made to do great things.

To the heart that is tired of waiting: Don't give up. You have not been forgotten. Keep pushing. God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Be thankful you are in the waiting process. It is a season to grow closer to the One who is shaping your life. You are in the hands of a God who knows the future.

Much love,

Madison

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
