To the girl I used to know,

This one is for the girl who was afraid of everything and feared the judgement from others. To the girl who was afraid to show her face in public, who was scared of moments, and putting herself out there. To the girl who knew it was time to leave the nest and shed her layers of darkness. There will come a time when you realize that it’s okay to make mistakes and make new friendships. It is all part of a journey, this is only just beginning, and boy are you in for a real treat.

I know you were scared to go out and adventure but there is a million roads and paths you can take that all end up as a moment. You were so scared of moments because you thought the judgement of other would eat you alive. Now you can’t get enough moments because the excitement of something new alone leaves you shaking with pure anticipation. That “thing” you’ve always dreamed of doing but never actually done? Do it and go big, don’t let your fears stop you. You’re young and you’re beautiful don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

It is 2017, you’re 19 years old, so be brave for once and start saying “yes.” Do something for yourself for a change I promise it’ll be okay. I promise that at the end of the day, when you sit down, and think about everything that has happened to you, you will smile.

That girl was me but she’s long gone. I left her in the dust the minute I left for college and decided to forget what others thought about me. I began writing music, drawing more, and making new friends. The impossible became possible all because I believed in myself and allowed myself to say “yes.”

Enjoy the little things in life and be extremely optimistic and open minded of any curveball life might throw at you. You only get so many opportunities so you might as well live life full on. It’s okay to miss out on moments but it is a memory that you'll have forever so don’t regret taking a chance, put yourself out there, and enjoy being your own person. One day you'll look back and remember the times you had in college. Nothing but good vibes that leave a smile plastered to your face. Like the times where you made new friends because they wandered into your life at the right place at the right time.

Everything happens for a reason you are put on this earth to experience everything you possibly can and there will come a time when you have to stop being a kid. Growing up is a reality in which we all have to face at some point in your life. However, college is the middle space in life where you change from a kid, into the blooming young adult your supposed to be. In this middle space, it’s okay to enjoy moments. Sit back, and take it all in because it is a journey of a life time for thrill seeking junkies waiting to pry their way through life and new beginnings.

Take a leap of faith and go to that EDM concert because you know that it’s an opportunity that’ll help you appreciate your own music more. Who cares if the venue is full of strangers? The company of strangers is a moment, all coming together to enjoy one night, with one thing in common the music. Again, I promise you won’t regret putting yourself out there because when you’re there you will realize you want to see the world and experience every little thing possible starting with meeting new people

They are all there for the same reason, no one is judging you. You can talk to the stranger next to you, or dance with a another but it still all leads back to the reason why you’re there. You enjoy the moments that you know you may never get again. It’s okay to enjoy the pure bliss of the lights and the soothing sound of music because you’re happy. You’re happy because you feel as though you’re in a world full of equals all waiting to feel their youth be recharged with energy. Energy of the people around you and the atmosphere as the lights dance around your world.

You see everything in a whole new light and you remember why you there. You’re there because today you can say I did that. I lived through it and I experienced it with strangers who have now become companions. You can go to bed knowing that put yourself out there and enjoyed the moment and just lived. It’s important, but people tend to forget that it’s okay to just live. They get caught up in school, family, friends, you name it. It’s easy to forget in this hectic journey they call life. Life was invented to be creative and experienced. You cannot experience anything if you say no.

The moment was offered to me and I seized it. It’s a moment I can say I lived because I said yes. I know that if I said no there would have never been that opportunity again. Yes, there will be another concert but it will never compare to your first. Everything that happened, every emotion that I experienced, the buzz that I witnessed, and the friendships I created will all help me with my own music.

It’s hard to put something into words unless you’ve experienced it for yourself but It’s time to stop wondering and begin opening yourself up to a whole new world. By being in that crowd of people looking up at the DJ, I realized how much more that I wish it was me on that stage. Someday maybe it will be my turn, but for now, it’s nice to enjoy the company of strangers as we dance to the same beat.

A year ago, I would never have dreamed of being where I am today. Seize your moments, live a little, and be young I promise that everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to.

From,

The girl who’s no longer afraid

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
