Society sets standards for what they think is attractive. Models and celebrities Photoshop themselves until they look like perfection. If you look like anything at all different, you're weird or an outcast. Girls look at these standards every day and change the way they use to think of themselves. Things like this lead to depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders, and much more. It's time to break down that stigma of not looking 'perfect.'
Dear Girl Looking In The Mirror,
I know exactly what you're thinking right now..
My hair isn't right. My face is breaking out. My thighs are huge. You sit there for hours trying on different outfits or putting on makeup, just trying to feel beautiful in your own skin. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, when you look in that mirror, it only makes you upset. It makes you wish you were someone else, someone different.
Well, it's time for that to stop.
From experience, I spent way too many unnecessary hours looking at myself in the mirror. I would sit there and think to myself, "Maybe I should start working out?" "Maybe I should cut and dye my hair." "What if I looked like this person?" I am telling you right now, this completely destroyed my self-confidence in time. I was my own worst enemy. I would sit there and judge every aspect of myself because I did not feel okay looking into the mirror.
For every girl who has ever felt that way, we are better than we think.
We need to look into that mirror with confidence and feel comfortable. Who cares what others say? Who cares about what the popular celebrities look like? Be your best motivator. Wear that cute little black dress. Try that maroon lipstick. If you like it, then nothing else matters. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and just be happy in our own skin.
We are beautiful. We are amazing. We rock that outfit. Our hair is perfect. That mirror is wrong, don't ever think otherwise.
Sincerely,
A Girl Who Has Been There A Million Times.
