Dear Future Me

Dear future me,

I hope that you are okay and that you climbed that mountain that I'm stuck at the bottom of right now. I hope that you can look back and smile at me, knowing that I am gone. You have evolved. I hope you still speak your mind though.

Stop living your life looking for love, if you haven't found it yet. If you're heartbroken, do not be afraid to love again. Do not let the cracks that are in your heart turn to scars. Build a wall and delete the guy who broke your heart out of your life. If he is not contributing happiness or success, then he is cancer to you. I hope you have the strength to do this.

I hope that you laugh everyday and find something small every day to make you smile. Small things are important, don't disregard them. The little things turn to big things.

I hope that you feel beautiful. I hope you make others smile. Don't lower your standards to have more friends. Be strong when things get tough. Do not forget to talk to God, because he can help you in every situation.

Recognize when you are in the wrong and learn from that. Always look back and see how much you have grown, be proud of yourself. Do not change yourself for anyone. Give more and give the things that you love and adore so others can love and adore them too.

Write stories. Keep a journal. Take lots of photos. You will want to remember the moment. Remember how people look at you. Remember how you felt in that moment.

Remember the places that you have gone. The places that took your breathe away so suddenly that you thought that you may never be able to get it back. the places that were so beautiful that you almost started crying. The places that reminded you of that someone...so you did start crying.

You know the someone that I'm talking about, right? The person that left after they said that they never would. Now appreciate your family. They will never leave because of the unconditional love that they have for you. You will never understand why people left you, but you will understand those who left don't matter more than those who stayed.

Don't forget me. The restless and reckless teen you once were. Don't forget the highs and the lows; the ones that we watched together. I hope that you have continued to grow as we have gotten older. But please don't forget where you've come from. Take every experience you have had and turn it into a lesson to be learned. Always be kind and love yourself. Keep going, my darling, you are getting there.

With all of the love in the world,

Past me.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
