Entering a new chapter of your life is the most daunting, exciting, and necessary experience anyone can have. Knowing that you are about to embark on an adventure of new territory can seem impossible. For my recent life, my new adventure has been going to college. To be completely honest I couldn’t have gotten through the past 2 months if it weren’t for the incredible friendships I have made.
Miles away from home, not a soul around that you are familiar with, and the desire to be as social as possible. This basically described me as I entered this new chapter of my life. The way I looked at it was I had two options. I could sit and wait for people to come and meet me or I could take a risk and put myself out there. Get involved, join clubs and groups that interested me and not worry about the perception of others. I chose the second one and this was the best decision I ever made.
I have decided to be my slightly wild self and not try to impress people and because of this I have made incredible friendships. The people that God has brought into my life because I chose to not hide who I was are all the most unique, caring, hilarious, and incredible friends I could have ever asked for.
So, thank you. Thank you to the people who have accepted the person I am. Thank you, for being the complete person you are without hesitation. The blessing that you are in my life is more than what I could have ever anticipated. The crazy antics and the chill movie and homework nights are memories I will never forget. Quick Walmart runs that turn into long excursions throughout the whole town are where we have some of the most hilarious conversations so far. Thank you for being there when class was stressful, I was sick, and I was feeling a little homesick. Because you were there I now miss you when I go home – even when it’s just for a weekend.
When embarking on a new chapter of your life. Live courageously. Live your life and live your passions. Nothing can go wrong if you are being who you are meant to be. I promise you that if you are yourself and take the risk of putting yourself out there then nothing but blessings will come your way.
