Throughout our lives, we come across a variety of different people who change our lives for the better and sometimes for the worse. It's the friends that shape you into who you are and call you out when you're out of line that do the best for you. Everyone has friends who will simply go along with what they say to gain a sense of connection and avoid conflict. But, it's the friends who step back a little bit and challenge you that make you who you are.
Sometimes these confrontations may cause fights and disagreements, but at the end of the day these are the friends that know you best. It may take time to come across these types of people in your life, but if you're lucky enough this friend could be someone that will become constant.
Everyone is different and the way that they portray their feelings towards one another could easily vary. But it's the friend who digs deep enough to understand you that could change everything. Honesty is an ongoing theme throughout life that could make or break friendships, relationships, and sever ties that you have with people.
Gaining trust with others is extremely difficult at times when you have so many past friendships that might make you hesitate just a little bit more. It's the friend that could connect with you on that level and listen fully to your problems who could maybe understand you more than the other.
The friend that snaps you back into shape when you feel like the world is ending and there's nothing that you could do about it. It's the one that reminds you that it's going to be okay but it's going to be challenging to get back to where you once were.
These friends are special and significant so when you have one like this, hold on and do your best to maintain that friendship.
Maintaining friendships is not easy, and no one will lie and say it is because that wouldn't be the truth at all. But, being honest and direct with your friends makes you their go-to person for everything and more.
These are the friends that will hopefully be at your wedding one day and you'll be at theirs. Keeping people in your life is definitely hard, but when you remember the light at the end of the tunnel there's nothing stopping you.
Thank you to the friend that was honest with me, and showed me why it's important to have people in your life that bring out the best version of who you are and uphold the same values as you. It's easy to lose touch of who you are in the grand span of life and suffer from it. But you've been able to remind me as to why it's important to remain grounded.
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none." - William Shakespeare
