If you're lucky enough to be able to experience college, whether it's through commuting or dorming, then you definitely know the overwhelming experience of attempting to get your sh*t together. Take it from me, a student who's quite literally seen it and been through it all: if you don't think you're doing okay, you're 99.999% doing absolutely fine.
To the college student who thinks it's "burdensome" or embarrassing to constantly change their major, it's not. I went from the Pharmacy track to the Biology track and then to the English track.... and then back to the Biology track for a few more minutes just to find myself majoring in English again and pursuing that Bio degree in a minor form... literally, I'm a Bio minor now. It's bizarre to me that we as college students are pressured to know exactly what we're doing after graduating, from the internship we get while in school and to the 9 to 5 job we score right after graduating. It shouldn't be like that and unfortunately, it took me more than a few tries to finally come to terms with that.
To the college student who received an F (or multiple F's) her freshman year, it's all about trial and error. When else can you say that you're a broke and struggling college student left on her own amidst hundreds of other students in the same boat as you, trying desperately to grasp what was going on in ridiculous Bio 117 class you're forced to take as a freshman? Trust me, I have a cousin who had to take the same course his freshman year of college and this plant-based science class didn't dictate his success as a surgeon today, not at all.
To the college student who is constantly surrounded by beautifully intelligent people in his or her life, it's okay. Similar to how you'll eventually meet the love of your life in due time, you'll get to where you're meant to be academically in due time. After almost 3 years of college and an abundance of mistakes (trust me on that one), I can almost say that I'm currently where I need to be in my college career. This mainly includes what path I believe I was always meant for after all this time. Your time will come.
To the college student who tries and tries and tries again, keep trying and never give up trying. You're only human and humans make mistakes- all of the mistakes ever. Sure, some things an apology can't fix or a makeup exam can't quite make up for, but just the fact that you're out here trying and attempting to make something, someone, of yourself is cause for celebration.
To the college student who's borderline giving up after every attempt at trying to succeed in this cutthroat world that is college, please don't. Coming from a someone who went through the lowest of lows to get to the place she's in today, don't give up. College is what you make of it and you have to believe in yourself that you were meant to make yourself into something incredible.
