To The College Student In The Midst Of Finals

BREATHE!!

Finals are upon us on college campuses all across the country. It's stressful. I know you're thinking that your finals can make or break you, but before you have a panic attack, BREATHE!

Take a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale.

Now, all you can do is study to the best of your ability. I know we all have that one class that we work our tails off in, and it just doesn't seem to pay off. Keep pushing through.

It's not the end of the world if you make a "B" or even a "C." I know that might be hard to believe. I was the girl in high school that always had all As.

And yes, it's a tough pill to swallow. I know "oh my goodness, I am so stupid" is going through your head, but you are not stupid. College is just hard.

You're going to get through it though. Study and prepare, but don't forget to take some breaks every now and then. Your brain will need a break.

Also, take advantage of any study sessions you can go too. Those are only to help you. I know it can be a pain to get back out in the cold or go straight from a long day of classes into a study group, but I think in the end, it's worth it.

When you have some spare time during the day, maybe in between classes, find a quiet spot on your campus and study, even if it's just for 15 minutes. Take advantage of the study places on your campus.

If you're at Mississippi State like I am, go to the library (I know that sounds terrible but it's really not), Old Main, or the Dawg House. The study rooms in Old Main have already seen me a lot this semester and will continue to over this next week.

If it helps you to listen to music while you're studying, DO IT! It always helps me to have a little bit of background noise, even if it's just some instrumental music. I can't sit in the silence. If you focus better in complete silence, more power to you!

Make yourself a Kahoot! or a quizlet set. Rewrite your notes. If you have a math final, get online and find some similar problems.

Don't give up! You've got this!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
