To The Best Friend God Gave Me

When God puts the people you need in your life before you even need them.

To my best friend-

Thank you for being everything you are, in every perfect and imperfect way. I can’t believe how much the Lord has blessed me by putting you in my life when I least expected it. You are the one person I know I can always go to and trust and count on in any circumstance.

When I first met you I never realized how important you were going to be in my life. I remember so vividly the first time we met, which was through the summer camp we worked at together over the summer, as we met briefly in a shabin amidst the overwhelming chaos of people and new surroundings. When I found out you were going to Messiah in the fall like me, I knew we were ment to be. You were my backbone and the one I would vent to, and always looked forward to seeing you at the pool whenever I brought my charismatic campers who would never walk. It’s crazy the journey the Lord has taken us on since the summer and into the school year, which I don’t know what I would’ve done without you, as going into college already seems overwhelming and I can’t even imagine going in all alone into the next stage of my life without you. Camp was our place where our bond was made unbreakable and where we can look back to and cherish the good times. What’s even crazier is we ended up having two classes together, and I always cherish our study sessions. From all our cuddling sessions and mental breakdowns (so dead) and boy problems (we all have them), I will never take you for granted.

I appreciate the little things you do, like when I fell behind in the color run and at the very end you came back on the course to run the last 200 feet with me. You have no idea how much I appreciated that. That’s what true friends do.

I find it amazing how the Lord put you in my life before I realized I even needed you, and I can’t even imagine doing this whole college thing without you. It has taught me that the Lord will provide for our needs before we even are aware of it. We always got each others back and I appreciate you always being there for me. Even if we don’t get a chance to talk a lot on busy and hectic days, I know we are always on the same page. I thank God for you everyday and this crazy life journey that he has put us on, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us. You are my ride or die.

Thank you for listening to me rap to Lecrae.

Thank you for being crazy with me.

Thank you for being a blessing.

Love, Your Forever Grateful Friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
