To all the seniors in high school, committing to a college, and getting ready for the end of their high school careers and about to start a new chapter in your lives, here is some advice from a second-semester college freshman getting ready to finish up her first year of college.

Take advantage of home food.

Trust me on this one.

From the time summer starts, make sure you make everyday count food wise. Especially if you know you are going to an out of state school where you know the food will be different. For me, I knew going to an out of state school and being from New York, there would be a rude awakening when it came to eating bagels and pizza.

So I took advantage of every moment I could with two of my favorite foods. You don't realize it yet, but you will microwave a lot of food and order out a lot. It's going to get boring and can get expensive and when you go home for your first break, you will appreciate home food so much.

Use your summer wisely.

There are so many ways you should use your summer before c.ollege. One of them is too definitely get a summer job.

Highly recommend.

Another thing you need to do, which is also an obvious one, is to plan your dorm room with your roommate.

Make sure you are getting everything you need. Spread out your dorm shopping throughout the summer so you have an ample amount of time to get everything or return/exchange things you may realize you don't need (I changed my comforter twice and also ordered it so I needed time for it to come). I promise this will happen and it will get stressful if you are trying to get things last minute.

Hang out with your home friends as much as possible.

You won't realize it until you leave for school, but you will probably miss your friends and family more than you think.

Make sure you spend as much time with them this summer no matter what you are going together. Don't take advantage that they are always around and easily available because before you know it, the summer will be coming to an end and you will are be leaving to start a new chapter in your lives.

Trust me when I say this summer will go by very fast.

Know that college is an amazing experience but it can be scary at first and you should really use your summer to prepare for it physically, mentally, and emotionally. Get ready for the best four years of your life!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
