If you're a female of any age or generation you know the term mean girls is not just from a movie. They are real life, ruthless creatures who haunt the halls of school buildings, waves of social media, and isles of the grocery stores. All girls know what it feels like to be taunted and pushed around my a mean girl whether its physically or emotionally, everyone goes through it, even mean girls themselves. So, if you are 13 or 53 here are five tips on how to deal with a mean girl:
1. Ignore, Ignore, Ignore
It is so difficult to not entertain their behavior due to it usually being hurtful towards you or someone you care about, but caving in and lashing back at them gives them power and lets them win. No matter how hard it may seem to not react to what they are saying or doing the situation will diffuse so much faster if you just simply ignore their evil tactics.
2. Be happy
There is nothing more a mean girl hates than to see her prey being extremely and extraordinarily happy. It sucks the life right out of them and makes YOU feel so much better. Those girls do not matter in any way, shape, or form so act like it. They will try their best to bring you down and ruin your mood, and by not letting that happen you will win, always.
3. Continue to be exactly who you are
Mean girls will spread lies after lies about you. Whether its about how many people you slept with, things you've said about your friends, or things you've done. None of it will be true and it will destroy your ego, but continue to be you. I know it will feel like it's the end of the world and everyone is talking about you, but I promise tomorrow will come and this too shall pass. As long as you stay true to yourself and be exactly who you are your peers will eventually recognize what your mean girl is attempting to do.
4. Let karma takes it's own path
Trust me, I know how bad you want to get back at every mean girl you've crossed paths with, but don't. It will inevitably make you look foolish. Mean girls are so good at the "revenge" game and they will win if you try to rush karma by creating your own. Let karma work all by itself and I promise it will come. It may be forty years down the road, but it will come and those means girls better watch out because it will be ten times worse than what they ever thought about doing to you.
5. Let it go
You will never get an apology from mean girls, and you will never hear them say they were wrong. Their evil souls don't allow them to think that they have done something hurtful and they don't let them say that they're sorry. You cannot change the past and you cannot change the person, they are who they are and there is no altering that fate. So, let it go and live on. You know you're the better person and you know they will never be kind so why waste your time letting it eat you alive? It will always hurt where mean girls stung you, but once again I promise they did not win, you did.
