When you have three tests, one paper, and a group project all due next week, making moves for a big night out is not always the easiest thing to do. If you are anything like me, the FOMO is so real, but so is the comfort of your warm bed and Netflix. When it comes down to making the final decision -- to rally or not to rally -- you really have to weigh your options wisely.
Putting makeup on and throwing a cute outfit together is not as quick and easy as it looks. It takes time and effort, that, sometimes, we just don’t have. You are often left to think of the best and worst case scenario. Worst case scenario: you made the push, put on a full face of makeup, and threw together the perfect outfit only to wait on the Skeeps line for an hour and get rejected by the bouncer with the shady-colored gloves. Best case scenario: you may end up having a great night out with your friends, meeting a cute boy, and getting some free shots on him. So the question is -- to rally or not to rally?
Waking up from a nap is never as peaceful or rejuvenating as one would hope. Now, throw in rushing to get ready and pounding some shots, and peaceful might just be the last word in your vocabulary. Whether you blast some music to wake yourself up and get dressed in theme for your “Mathletes and Athletes” mixer, or get under the covers and binge watch Scandal, could potentially be a difficult decision. So again we ask ourselves -- to rally or not to rally?
Sometimes, you are stuck between a girls night in, and visiting your favorite frat. You could throw on your cozy pajamas, make some popcorn, and catch up with all your girls. Or, you can decide to suffer through the minus 20-degree weather and the Uber surge pricing at five times the normal rate. It is always fun to catch up with the girls, but our time at frats are limited and Motown Monday always seems to just call your name. The decision is yours -- to rally or not to rally?
Everyone knows game day is the best night of week. But when you go hard all morning, making it back out that same night can seem nearly impossible. This is when the term "boot and rally" really comes to good use. If you can get yourself off the bathroom floor and into the shower, you are already half way there. Plus, you might still be drunk from the morning festivities so you won't have to worry about where to pre game that night. It's up to you -- to rally or not to rally?
You have a huge exam coming up that you really should be studying for. But all your friends are heading to Rick's. While the stacks just sound oh, so tempting, it is hard to turn down a night at the bar. You know that you are not magically going to get an A on that anatomy exam, especially if all you have got down so far is the Hannah Montana "Bone Dance." I am pretty sure Rick's won't provide you with any answers to the test, either, but I guess you could study anatomy in a different way -- to rally or not to rally?
When it comes down to the final decision, you have a lot more to weigh than just these few circumstances. Sometimes it is more general. Do we choose not to rally so we can catch up on sleep, study for exams, and lounge with some friends. Or do we choose to rally because four years fly by fast? We only get to live the college life once and no one wants to look back and say, what if...? I guess it all comes down to the mood, the person, and the night. To rally or not to rally -- that is the question.
