To My Roomies For The Next Year

We'll laugh, cry, fail and succeed together

Words to my 2057 girls,

We received our keys, moved in, took our first roomie pic and now we’re beginning to realize what it feels like to be real adults! 2057 is our home (maybe not forever), but it’s going to be a great adventure for all of us in our lives. Even though we all weren’t necessary friends to begin with, I feel like we fit together pretty well. Not every single day will be nice and dandy. We will get into fights but then we’ll make up. We’ll fail together, cry together and succeed together. We may never even talk again or be friends after the lease is up, or there’s a chance we could all become lifelong friends. Either way, it’s an adventure that we are all going on.

I’d say we do a pretty good job of getting along already and I’m glad I have you two to get through the year with. Our house isn’t perfect, but with a little love, tender and care we’re going to make it cute and sassy just like us. Our first night staying in our house we stayed up until three A.M. because we were afraid and just talked. I hope we’ll have nights like that every once in a while because small talk is overrated. I cherish that we are already comfortable with each other to vent too.

Just know that I’ll be here when you need a shoulder to cry on or when you need someone to tell good news to. I’ll be here to tell you if your outfit looks hot or needs a touch up. I’ll be there to sit on the floor in the kitchen eating everything when we get back from going out (of course that has already been done haha.) You’re already part of the family with my friend groups. RRC fits together so well and rolls off the tongue! We are ready to rock this year and I’m glad I’m going through this new and exciting adulthood adventure with you two! Can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!

Bye, for now -- well, not really, since you’re both right down the hall. So, uh, guess this is, “See you downstairs at breakfast in morning.”

Love,
C.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
