I have always been one to respect my teachers, and tried my best to stay on their good side. Along the way, many of my teachers have made a huge impact on me, and I feel as if they deserve something special.

First of all, I want to say thank you. Thank you for giving me the courage to go out and pursue my dreams. I probably would not have done so if it had not been for you pushing me, making sure I knew I was as good as you thought. Thank you for believing in me, giving me faith, and for helping me make my own path in this world. I never would have thought that I would be where I am today, and I have you to thank for it. Thank you for being that positive energy on a bad day, and for reminding me that my grades are not the mark of my intelligence.

As my life goes on I realize how truly lucky I was to have you as an educator. It could have definitely turned out a completely different way. However for some reason or another, I was put in your class, and it left a mark on me.

I can remember my elementary school teachers, and how they were the first ones to really let me know that I could accomplish all of my dreams. Although I was really small, and my dreams were way too big, they still told me I could do it. They gave me the basic tools I needed, that I still use today. All of those sharing lessons, show-and-tell, and wait your turn to speak, all come in handy today. You were my first group of teachers, and you really set my path up for success. For that I want to thank you. All of my elementary teachers have inspired me to teach someday, and I hope that I can handle a classroom of kids with excellence and grace as you did with me.

My middle school teachers probably saw me at a very weird time in my life. That was when I was trying too hard to fit in, and being someone I was not. In sixth and seventh grade, I tried way too hard to fit into one group of kids. In eighth grade I was going through a dark phase, and would wear black every day of the year. So to my teachers that put up with that, I am so sorry! You all did such an amazing job getting me ready for high school though, and I remember being afraid I would not do well. With your guidance, I was ready to succeed.

High school was a completely different world. Teachers scared me, and I got lost for the whole first week. Which is impossible in such a small school! Most of my teachers called me by my older sister’s name, so I learned to respond when they did. I always found it amusing though, mostly because we are very different from the other. I got really involved in high school, and I enjoyed it so much. I had an awesome time doing Journalism, Student Council, National Honor Society, Theatre, and band. I had started with band in middle school, however marching band made such a huge impact on my life! Color Guard was definitely my favorite thing that I did in high school. I was definitely sassier in high school, so I apologize for that. Though I got along with all of my teachers. From my librarian who always listened to me, to my guidance counselor who made sure I met all the deadlines. These teachers are truly something special. I also want to apologize to all of my teachers I had senior year. I really didn’t put in too much effort, and was just trying to pass the days away until graduation.

Overall my life has been greatly impacted by my school, and my teachers. I look back now and tell students how lucky they are to go to a wonderful school with a wonderful faculty. I never feel ashamed when I come to visit, because as much as the school left a mark on me, I am sure I left a mark on them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
