Dear Best Friend,
Who would have thought that through the act of baking brownies, we would become the best of friends? Who would have thought that we would become best friends; that we would become so inseparable and become completely obsessed with each other?!
It brings me so much joy to be able to share so many experiences, moments, and plans with you. We have been friends for more than a decade! In essence, we have been friends for half of our lives!
You have truly become one of my biggest supporters. We constantly reflect on our life journey, our educational achievements, and personal growth. We have shared so many memories and experiences together. I can not imagine a better Best Friend, my greatest supporter, and my favorite nurse! You know how much I love telling about your brilliance and life devotion, of being an incredible nurse working with expecting mothers and little babies.
Leti, you were there when I had my first boyfriend, my first kiss, celebrated my Quinceanera (Sweet 15th,) high school to graduate school graduations. We have celebrated so many Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas parties together. You even traveled to Philadelphia for my Master’s of Science graduation from the University of Pennsylvania. Needless to say, we have always supported and encouraged each other in our endeavors. It has been a pleasure, a true honor to walk in this world with you by my side.
Thank you for always being there when I needed an encouraging word or even to just vent about my rough day. You were one phone call away late in the midnight hour when I needed some encouragement because I thought I couldn’t finish my last essay of a quarter at DePaul and you reminded me of all the greatness I have inside. Thank you for loving me, motivating me, and sharing your family with me. You might not fully understand the depth of those actions, but over a decade ago, I was so hurt and empty inside. With your kindness, you welcomed me into your family. I remember being hesitant to share my upbringing experiences with you, but with your loving embrace, I gained not only a true best friend but another set of parents. I want to say thank you for taking me to my first Christian church while you got to witness me being embraced by the Holy Spirit and I told you that is where I belong.
At times we aren’t able to spend as much time together as we’d like to, but when we are together, it’s as if we have never been apart. With you, I laugh so much until my stomach hurts with your hilarious demeanor and caring heart. I know who you are, what you stand for, and you know who I am; and we are able to love one another completely. I love you for listening to my troubles, my goals, and my aspirations and for trusting me with yours. I love you for the fun times we have together, and the encouraging representation of our relationship. You will always have a friend in me! Here is to a lifetime of memories and beautiful moments walking this world side by side! I love you more than words can say!
