To my College Wind Ensemble director,
I started playing clarinet in 4th grade. Music grew with me as I went from grade to grade. My music program went through a lot of band directors, and I found myself falling out of love with my music. I have carried such a passion for my clarinet from the very beginning. Sometimes I felt no director ever had the time to believe in me or push me or help me grow.
Senior year would come around, I was in what I thought was my last year of band concerts, solo fests, and honors bands. I was so wrong. I had the honor my senior of competing in All State and it reminded me why I began playing an instrument. Then this feeling of sadness overcame me, as I knew it was all over in a few short months. I didn't think being part of a college ensemble was possible.
Well, here I am in my 3rd semester of college and my 3rd semester of college wind ensemble. I have never loved my music more. I have my college director to thank for that.
Dear, college director
Thank you. Thank you for giving me the chance to be part of something so amazing. I never thought I would get the chance to be part of a group this large or that sounded so good. I have become such a better player, and stretched myself to play pieces I would never have even looked at in college. Thank you for giving me a reason to love my music again. I sit in rehearsals most days just wondering how I have come this far. I am so blessed to be part of such a wonderful family-like group.l have in a short year already had so many wonderful experiences from tour to retreat weekends. I have seen my self confidence boost, and hearing how good we sound gives me chills. A million times over, thank you. This will be part of my college experince I will never ever forget.
Sincerly,
A student in love with music again
