To My Best Friend On The Day She Leaves College

You've always got a friend in me.

Dear Megan,

I remember the first year of us being friends. It was 8th grade, just before High School. We were in a big group of friends, but I remember us always being close. Whether it was hangouts at your house, walks to Wawa, or eventually working at Laura's Pizzeria together, I always loved being around you.

Your personality has always been one of my favorite things about you. You always cheered me up, made me laugh, and cried with me when I needed it most.

Throughout 8th grade and the first 2 years of High School, our big friend group went away, person by person. By Junior year, we had been put into a completely new group of people. We had mutual friends so we were as close as we once were.

I never thought we would end up in college together when I first met you in 8th grade. Now, we are closer than we were and I consider you my third sister.

We've been through so much ever since first coming to Shippensburg University and I've loved every second of it because I got to spend it all with you. We'll be roommates next year and I am so excited to experience that with you.

You've been going through a lot this year. You've had problems that only you can solve, and I will be with you every step of the way.

You'll be back in the Fall, I know, but the rest of this semester will not be the same without you. You have always been a light in my life and I will miss you so much.

A broken heart is not irreparable. You are the strongest girl I know and I know you can get through this.

Through breakups, long nights, fights, drunken voicemails, dinner every night, library dates, car rides home, chaotic shifts at Laura's, and so so SO much more, you have remained my favorite person on this planet.

I would not be where I am today without you. I love you with all my heart and I thank my lucky stars I have you in my life.

What you are going through is temporary. In a few years, we'll look back on this and remember how you got through it.

To my best friend, you are an amazing, beautiful woman and I love you!

Love,

Casey

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
