To My Best Friend As We Room Together In College

Going to college has always been something that I've looked forward to since middle school, and it's unbelievable that it's already time to move in to a dorm room for my freshman year. I knew that sharing a room with someone after always having a room to myself was going to be difficult at first, but rooming with one of my best friends will make the transition a little easier. Especially because it'll be so cute and cozy with all of our little handmade decorations.

Em, I'm so thankful that I met you and got to experience so much of high school with you. The memories that we made throughout the past three years are priceless. I cannot believe we are living together! From watching "Going to the Store" videos during drawing (instead of actually drawing anything) to our weekly Bob's and Target runs, you've made my life so much more enjoyable. I wouldn't trade you for the world.

Well, this is the year where you really find our just how strange I am (and how much time I actually do spend working on homework, despite how I never had it completed in high school). I apologize, in advance, for all of the annoying things you're about to hear me complain about for no reason, that's just what I do sometimes. And I also apologize for the amount of nail polish you will smell because I usually procrastinate by painting my nails for hours. Additionally, I'll try to hold back as much sass as I can, but we'll see how that goes. This is your warning that I also tend to air dry my clothes, which results in just hanging them on every surface I can find (and I will not apologize for hanging sweaters from my bed).

I'm so excited for everything that we'll get to experience together, from Pollyeyes runs, to trips back home for Bob's and Target (because we are definitely creatures of habit). I can't wait for all of the fun we'll have binge watching Netflix and eating junk food when we should really be studying, even though in all seriousness I will need help with anything math related. Hopefully I can get you to at least tolerate Gossip girl. And as for the spring break trips, words cannot explain how excited I am to be able to travel to new places with my best friend.

I'm so glad to call you my best friend, and at this point, my unbiological sister. You are like family to me, and I wouldn't want to share all of these experiences with anybody else. I cannot wait to see how much stronger our friendship will become after we are living together. Here's to being roomies! I hope this year is as wonderful as we hoped!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
